amp wiring - 'rem' wire

ive been told that the 'rem' wire turns off the amp when the stereo is off to stop it running the battery down.
ive joined the battery wires in my stereo so that it can turn on even if the ignition is off. will this effect the amp and run my battery down?

Only if you leave the stereo on - If you've connected the Rem(ote) wire then the amp will only be powered for aslong as the stereo is, so if you turn the stereo off then the amp will turn off, leave the stereo on and the amp will stay on.

as above, leave stereo on, amp will be on, battery will die = not good :wink:
