lol.. there's hundreds of ways you can design a boot popper.

What components are you using, apart from the solenoid, Relays. e.t.c ?

you can't just do it with a solenoid on it's own. as it'l stay Popped.

i bought a proper solenoid just like the ones they use on pimp my ride

lol @ pimp my ride.

So, u just got a solenoid.. ?

that's really not much more help tbh. i could suggest 100's of ways to make up a circuit, but your not telling em what components you've got

i did!

i just put it on a push switch!

ohh right i get u, and relied on the boot/door closing to pop the solnoid back it !?

I made up some boot poper kits using relays, so it popped the lock and then retracted without closing the lock, the solenoids didn't seem to retract if you left them "popped". only cost me ?3.15p to make,.

unfortunatly the solenoids were about as strong enough to pop, well, nothing.

right, well... in that case, there should be two terminals on your Solenoid, it should be a 12v solenoid.

Connect one to earth, and one to Live, Then when 12v is passed onto the live terminal the solenoid should pop outwards. get a small 12v battery and try it , you could have a dodgy solenoid, i've got tons right here that were faulty when i bought a load for the boot popper kits.

baxter ....u have to hold the button in for a couple of seconds ? or could u just give it a quick jab ?

That may have been the reason why i did it with relays, can't remember as it was 2 years ago. i thought the reason i didn't do it with just a solenoid was because it didn't work. + it was done on croc clips which is renound for being shit lol

nowt,
the wire needs to be really straight with lots of weight against it so it pops it open
wht button u got with it.
what company made it

Alex - stop being a clown, the guy just wants to finish his install. 'Pimp my ride' is a good ass show. And credible.

std solenoid requires a basic 12v and ground

apply the current one way and it will pull th other way it will push

u need to simply run a wire from battery to fuse, fuse to push switch, push switch to solenoid then solenoid to ground

get that part working first before fitting it to the car

u need it setup so it pulls the plunger in when power is applied

attach the solenoid to the hatch somewhere vertically inline with the mechanism (im sure mine was directly above) then run a piece of bar between the solenoid and the boot catch, it needs to be positioned so that with the boot catch in the unpulled position the solenoid is fully extended

the return spring in the pop mechanism should be enough to return it all to the std position after popping,

also only press the button for a short time as there is no resistance inline and u WILL burn out the solenoid if u hold it down, u may need to fit a spring or wind out the rubber stoppers on the hatch to make it clear the catch with one press - before i fitted a spring i had to get someone else to pull the tailgate while i pressed the button
