Any ideas on the size of the hole i need to drill into the base of the K&N air filter please? And how best to seal it in?

don't , point the breather hose downwards in the engine bay.

you don't want it breathing in oily air.

if your worried about shit going in it, fit a crankcase filter to the breather tube end.

Oh, i read some where that it was best to drill a whole into the base of the K&N and squeeze the hose in?

Is this an uneccassary thing to do?

I've got a warm air feed on mine, but disconnect it in the summer. Not had a problem with it when its on, and sure helps the engine warm up a bit faster and reduces carb icing. Drilling a hole will be ok - its not ideal though as its possible the hose may pop out. I've got an extra bit welded on the bottom of mine which I've slipped the feed over and clipped in place, or you could get the K&N appendage.
