Some of you may know my car from car shows last year,

Anyway at the end of last summer i decided to take it off the road to put a 1600 16v on jenvy tb's in, and well things kinda escalated from there . So just over a year later, and god knows how much money spent, me and my mate have stitch welded the chasis with a harry hockley plating kit (ended up having the bay bead blasted t make welding easier!!), the shell is now off being sprayed. Also i have built the engine and gearbox, got hold of declan burkes old btb exhaust system, and a few other bits and bobs (rose jointed tie bar brackets competition engine mounts etc etc) so hopefully i can start building the thing up when it gets back from the body shop. jus thought i would post up a couple of pics of it as we have been working on it...

Here is the x16xe thats going in, when i get the throttle bodies, and the gearbox i have just rebuilt:

Hope to have it running for next year, but it all depends on funds, as the last things to buy now are the expensive bits like helix clutch, throttles, wilwoods, rose jointed gearbox linkage etc etc

P.S. this was posted on mig a while ago, but a few peeps have asked about the car off here

looks good, what sort of power are you hoping for out of the 16v?

obviously a reasonable amount otherwise you wouldn't have seam welded the engine bay.

cheers for all the comments people, glad you all like it. Just working on my carbon vin plate and option plate at the moment which looks pretty trick :D :D

krobinson: i hope so mate just depends on money really

broony: glad to here my old engine is running well, what was the problem in the end?

broos3, DrivingSpanner: yeh its going to look fairly similar, with a few subtle differences, i may have to add a bonnet scoop of some sorts to drop intake temps but we will see. I quiet fancy an ealry subaru legacy one because they are tiny, and dont actually sit on top of the bonnet.

jame5: no there vauxhall alloys mate quiet rare in 4 stud

scott.parker: no they were off my old calibra runabout and are now sold, this car is built for handling so i wouldnt comprimise it with big wheels. Its also got tas rose jointed tie bars, poly bushes, plated tca's, alloy rack mounts bilstein nvoa cup suspension etc etc.

skud52: not loads to start with just the standard sbd 162 kit, so about 150 160 bhp, with around 130 ft/lb of torque. The reason that we did all the welding (we stitched it didnt seam) is because its a nova, and if im going to throw it round a track it will fall to bits eventually without being built properly.

Looking good :)

Have you looked at using rod ends ont eh TCA's, gives you better camber adjustment then.

Also it's a good idea to paint the sump matt black to help heat disserpation on it

Are you going to be lightening the shell as much as possible too?

ive looked into these but wasnt sure how much improvement they would give me, i also looked into ecentric top mounts but i doubt they would be suitable for road use with them being solid

im not going to go mad wih the shell lightening to be honest, i still like having a stereo of some sorts and i intend to drive it over the nuremburg next year so want a couple of creature comforts. But i doubt it will weigh much over 850kg as it is which will put me up to around 180bhp per ton ish

never heard of the sump painting thing before lol
