hi again.
was speeking to clifford cox enginers of racing engines 2 day and he reckons that what the previous owner had told me was crap!
he said a 118bhp nova would have a greater speed than 120mph!
he asked me what i thought had been done and told me i was probly looking at the middle 80s mark!<<< was most upset but he said that this would be sufficenit to allow a top speed of 120!!
SO ONCE AGAIN I HAVE BEEN DONE OVER!!!
it would be intresting to c weather or not the son of a bitch sends the print outs n that ay!
but said that gte etc would not b hard to beat in a nova 1.2 cause of the weight! but that would only be standerd not a modded!
thought i would let u no as i can c u r all itching down stairs!

well you cant expect to buy a 1.2 an for it have 118bhp even if the guy says it has. Mid 80's sounds a lot more realistic and within capable reach of a 1.2. I still doubt it would do 120 on the flat
atleast you now know the "truth"

You wanna go put it on a rolling road and find out for your self what the actual power output is.
Don't go to clifford cox they are sh*t go some where else and get them to rr it.

I had 107mph out of my old 1.2 down the M1 that was completely standard.
Although i fully accept that the speedo could be out by a few miles per hour

down the M1, as in down hill? lol.
My 1.2 could barely get to 95 on a flat bit of road.
How can a race engine builder say wether or not anything should be quicker than 120mph or not, eg: Russ's 1.6 on twin 45's wopuldnt probably go anywhere near 120mph due to the gearing etc.
Can someone please lock all these threads its getting tiresome.

SECONDED,
It really is stupid, if you wanna go on about it come back when you have real evidence of what you say.
Only believe what you see with your own eyes not what is hearsay
Plus it aint about how fast it goes its how long it takes to get there!!!
There is not a massive, massive difference of weight between a 1.2 and a gte so I dont think that a 80bhp nova would "not b hard to beat in a nova 1.2 cause of the weight! "

i got 100 out of my 1.2 on the a55 that sounds about right ye,you just gotta hammer it in all gears lol
Damn It! I wasted my time sticking that gte engine in my 1.0 merit, I should have just washed the underside & emptied out the ashtray, and the power to weight ratio would have been the same.....
lol the 1.0 engines are heavy fuckers when compared to a 1.4 anyway lol

i agree 1L are faster than 1.2 corsas lol now thats sweet
lol
but the comment about them being a good engine. hmmmmm
think you need to look at it again.
[quote="fcukednova"]looking at the middle 80s mark!<<< was most upset but he said that this would be sufficenit to allow a top speed of 120!!quote] if this is true then how come the sport with 87bhp can only do 112mph ??

i agree 1L are faster than 1.2 corsas lol now thats sweet
thats because corsas are overweight, and the 1.2 corsa is single point(early ones anyway) whichhave the same power as the 1lt

The only bad point about the 1L really is that it has siemeze ports, like the mini's A series....for a 1L engine designed way back near the begining of the '70's tho its good much better than the 1L mini! the vaux engine was in the chavette and god knows what before!
