i bought a silk violet gsi a couple of months ago as a run around before i bung my LET in it.

took it to a local rolling road day to see what the 1600 was doing.

its got a blowing exhaust and a mucky K&n filter, unknown weather its had owt done internally.

came out with 116bhp at the flywheel.
and 87bhp at the wheels.

every other car on the day was makeing expected figures, even the standard ones.

what are e16se from the factory?
though they were 100bhp? where have i got an extra 16hp from after 120 k?

could of have a re-map sometime in its life. Or an after market cam.

could just be a really good standard one. Because it is that good I think you should keep it that way and give your LET to me

Might be a really good standard 1, but still too slow for me

good figures mate- i de say uve got a billy b+ cylinder head conversion. well re-knowed for gainin more an more - the more u use/run in the car. typical of wot u mean by the hike from standard lookin engine with that sort of mileage. they're almost like an investment..
quite a loss of power at gear box though.. wen i ran my e16se at velos after only 1000 miles into a b+ conversion i got 105bhp @ fly, 85bhp @ wheels. exactly 20bhp lost inbetween. urs is almost 30bhp. id expect (if i rollinroaded it now) to do somethin like ur figures- dispite addin no more mods since. got any torque figures? - after all theyre more interesting than bhp figs..

think you were just lucky mate as its almost always nearer 30 bhp loss. if not more, never as low as 20

5750 rpm = 115lbft torque
i think

or it could just be a typical maxpower r/r result. just saying as everyone else has only mentioned the figures and engine

sorry chris, what i meant was it could be a high reading rolling road. In my time going through a few i have seen variations of upto 20bhp between rolling roads.

Best example was one r/r quoted me 139bhp, but a couple of months later the spec had improved and i found the ignition setup i was using was killing the power from 3.5/4k upwards, and only getting 120bhp on a different r/r (those who actually diagnosed the problem). It had been to 5 different r/r before hand and was never picked up but the figures varied by huge amounts as said

R/R do vary quite a lot, this one was done at SCS Harvey Gibbs in Peterborugh, his r/r seems to very accurate as he mainly sets up cossys and the stage 1,2,3 power figures are quite predictable and proven on his r/r.

Rather liking the all of torque there, is that 100jet straight shot I take it. bet that lights up the front tyres
