I dopped you off a perfectly good car neil
and look what you did?????? :o
It was a classic
haha matt, well one thing does have to be said, very little rust in the actualy engine bay itself!
Why do people take pictures with picture phones? The quality is awful. Thats not a direct attack on you Neil, but a lot of people have been doing it lately and they all come out blurred to fcuk.
Jim
So, what's the plans for it then Neil??
Jim, i know it wasn't directed at me, but id rather take pictures with my phone which ive had for a year and a half then use a film and get it procced and spend money doing that, and i cant afford a digi camera, sorry but at the mo ill have to use my phone.
1.4 engine and then get wroking on the repray.

LOL why rush it,i think he should try and just spray this one in the bay first, then drop the engine in,as we know what happend lat time...
scott
As scott says im taking my time, ive got my 2ltr which im using so there is no rush with this one.
The reason the bonnet is still on is because today we took everything off but the engine mounts so it'll keep it covered for tonight, engine is coming out tomorrow.
Drop the engine out the bottom then, use the engine crane/jacks to lift the shell up an drag the engine out the way.
i've found it's a lot easier than pulling it out the top!

 lol @ Dan.
Progressing quite quick there Neil. Good going. One question though, what do your parents think to all these engines, gearboxes and half cars that keep appearing on their driveway?
It's a respectable street you know
My mum and dont really mind that much, they dont go outside much, the garage is kinda now mine, i have 3 engines in there, 2 doors, 4 engine heads, 3 batteries, bonnets, wings, head lights, seats, so much crap!
It'll fun once its sorted.

How are you going to do your top coat mate?
scott
what colour is it going to be?
The top Coats are going to be done by a compressor and in a Wacky Wearhouse, its a big open area where you could fit 5 cars in with doors open and is totally closed and naturally warm, its at my work, used to be the kids play area, called the Wacky Wearhouse.
The colour isn't decided yet, as its going to be a full shell respray i can have any colour i want :)

looks like its progressing fast mate, gonna be good when its finished :D
http://www.stuffing.freeserve.co.uk/saloon/door3.jpg
Id be very tempted to get the final respray done by a proffesional. If it isnt prepped properly and not done in the correct environment it will not come out as well as it should.
If you've done most of the prep work yourself, it shouldnt cost too much to get a respray.
Must admit its coming along fairly quickly and you seem to be doing a decent job (although you cant tell with camera phone pics...ask santa for a digi cam! ;))

you should have delocked the doors while you were at it neil  and possibly dehandled too. tut tut.
Just remember the imperfections in the paint job on your other one mate... save some pennies and get somewhere good to do a reasonable job on the final coats.
id be tempted to do the final coat myself if i were you neil providing you have all the right equipment and the skills to do it
At the moment the work that im doing is practice for me, the doors didnt cost much and its time i did some body work ect myself, so perfect time to do it. On my other nova i had a body shop do ALL the work so this time i want to try it myself.
I am really skint and cant afford a propper paint job at the moment, so im also doing it on the cheap, i do know about cutting costs in the long run but im ok if i want it done again.
Ive removed all the windows and winders etc and going for the Perspex route and metro seals.
Neil
you should have delocked the doors while you were at it neil
Look at the left hand door on the picture....

and possibly dehandled too. tut tut.
and why 'should' of i done this? I didnt want to have the doors de-handled, so i didnt.
wisewood
24-12-04, 04:44 PM
its for practice - so you should have done it just to say you could. or you could have been really swish and oved the handles to the bottom of th door or something lol.
true, was going to do lambo doors but i could find the nail sissors

''Looking good''.
Is it fuck, it looks like junk!
Obviously i'm not saying it will be that when finished. But it is very likely.
LMFAO at ''wacky WEARhouse''. And i don't just mean the spelling.
Keep it up, it's funny as fuck! Still, at least you're learning something. I hope. But then, who knows.
