i recently baught a (broken) mk3 astra which im in the process of fixing up for the GF

i had originally assumed it was a headgasket issue but it turns out the entire engines shagged so it needs replaced

i have an engine in the garage from my nova which consists of a 1990 C14NZ block, 1.6 GTE head and inlet manifold, 14nv camshaft and a GTE loom

dropping this engine streight in would be the easiest and cheapest solution for me and fitting its not really an issue

my problem is that the C14NZ blocks are on the CAT database so i need to be able to prove its a 1990 engine and hence not cat testable (due to the GTE management system not being equipped to run lambda/cat)

any ideas on how i can prove the age of this engine??

cheers

Kevin

surely you can use the engine number to do this ??
