Is there any difference between an SRi/GTE/GSi head?
I am really hoping some one will tell me that they're all the same....

gte/gsi heads are the same but sri is different

same shape ports i believe. And they are similar. I think the valves are different size.

After reading Broody's post, I'm confused, im told here they're not the same
But Im told in the other post they are the same.
Anyone???

they are very similar but obiously they are not THE same because if you use a 1.6 head on a 1.4 block then you are going to get much less compression.
Just as you would using a 1.4sr head on a 1.2.
a 1.6 head on a 1.4 will lose you power unless you skim it down quite a bit.
and vice versa. a 1.4 head on a 1.6 will raise compression quite a bit.

if your still stuck with that explanation or want more info then you could ask someone like Bill Blydenstein or Cylinder Head Developments about it.
i think the 1600 head'#s are taller, they have longer valve stems
will a SRi head give the same results as a gsi head on a 1600 lump?

no sorry mate the 1.0 cant be used for anythin :(
stick with the 1.2 head as it one of the best heads anyway , if your after a little more power try a 1.3 inlet manifold with a 1.3 carb (or 32/34 webber if you can afford ) and get a exaust of a sr/gte this should see you up your power to near sr spec
cheers riggy, i have a 1.0 and due to a new set of 17" wheels and a boot build i think shes way to under powered so im for gettin a 1.2 in her and spicin her up a bit
yeah you are right there the 1.0 isnt worth moddin at all engine wise , if your havin a 1.2 fitted it will feel a lot better but dont expect miricles from it unless you want to spend thousands on the engine like stu is doin ,
a 1.2 is a good engine for a new driver to keep the insurance down till you can afford it but if you just go the route above it will feel a lot better and not cost a fortune
but beware of the cons that you might think are peformance items eg max power stuff ,ripspeed item etc
as on a small engine they would make no difference at all and would be a waste on money :lol:
cheers, well i have a few wee gremlins thats y im restricked to low insurance groupls but all will be clear in a year and a half lol well that sounds good man. is the 1.2 a straight swap from a 1.0 (both carb) if ya know?

you'll want the exhaust as well as the 1l comes out the back of the engine where as the 1.2 comes out of the front. i think you need the gearbox as well as the starter motor mounts differently with the 1l

and yes you need gearbox aswell but you should get that with engine
good enough. i have a 1.2 spare but shes a dead duck but i have everything else. the car is still hole. would u reccomend a home engine change? i have the room and want to know how. have a few friends that can supply me with engine lifts or evin a full car lift if need be. so should i or should i not lol. if i was to put her in i have mechanic friend that would fine tune everything i need
it is an easy enough conversion to do at home, and drop the engine out the bottom as well. i took a 1l engine out in half an hour its that easy
lol yeah id deffo do it at home its really easy i didnt even have a lift for mine we just picked car over engine and then jacked up on a trolly jack hehe :lol:

only took a day to do , although my g/box was screwed so it had to come of again the folowin day :twisted:

i think the looms are pretty much the same mate
