Hey. OK I'm sure every one knows how crap the standard headlights are. Does anyone know of a way of making them any better. I'm thinking of putting in headlights from a different car. I was thinking of lights from a 97ish VW Polo. I'm tryiung to keep it looking standard but its getting a full respray and some bodywork so a bit extra isn't a problem. Also I want to go for a modern looking light. http://www.fk-automotive.de/en/artikelbilderanzeige.php?bild=FKNS6001&nr=1. There's a variant available with black instead of chrome but theres no pics. Anyone know of someone that did a light upgrade? Any other ideas to get decent lights. I'll also be putting on spot lamps aswell.

Just buy new Nova lights, it's the reflector in the lamp that goes dull or non-existant.

Then add some of those 110W rally bulbs and I am sure you will see alot better, my mate had 1 new headlamp and that made a hell of a difference over the other headlight!

Like Rob said, Nova lights are OK, and as good as most cars. Just make sure that the reflector is in good condition.

The reflector is perfect. They were both replaced within the last year due to the NCT (Irish MOT) coming up.

I think it looks very well. Might be an idea to try and fit the indicators aswell. ANy chance of some pics of how they're fitted and with the bonnet up please?

the only way u would get the indicators in, would be to use polo ones also, due to the fact the lights are a diff shape, u will also have to mod the bonnet to fit them to, not easy, will see if i have pics on the comp ok

I can vouch for that... got PIAA 110w bulbs in my saloon and its like daylight... the driving lamps on the hatch also have 150w ones too. I pity the fools who flash their headlights at me...

true, i think it says somewhere in the highway code that you can drive under street lighting with only your sidelights on....

And sure, bright lights are a pain in the arse... *but* its not the brightness thats annoying, its whether the lights are aligned properly - you can happily look at my lights on dipped beam and they don't seem bright (just blue/white) - its when they're on full beam that they'll blind you. Its rusting fiestas and what not that don't have properly aligned lights that piss me off, even having half a candle in the lamp is enough to blind you then!
