does anybody now what form a steel driveshafts are made from

are they hardend and tempered or are they just machined and left

im thinking about making some xe driveshafts in work (just need the dimensions ,and the angle that the splines are cut at )

i would be quite easy to do really as all our cnc lathes are bar feeders and have live tooling that would machine the splines

Is a very good idea, phone up Mann Transmission and speak to Martin Tinkler and ask him what they make theres from etc etc (as a customer lol dont say you want to make your own).

make em from brass lmao

you could put the right number of splines in to enable you to use regular astra inner CV's and nova outers. as opposed to getting cav 1.6 inners and all the rubbish.

Prob EN24 at a guess would be good for the job, then need to get them shot peaned to take out the serface stresses that would cause them to break. jobs a good un. wish our CNC turning cenre at work could do splines! does just about everything else tho!!!
