hi lads ive finally come to my senses and realise i cant afford the insurance for a let transplant :( :(
so can anyone help me with some info on a 1.6 turbo conversion??
as u all probably know my car is a carbed 1.2 at the mo but with all the body mods i want some turbo power to back it up
any help or pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lewis
Well either buy an already turbo'd gte/gsi lump and drop it in, or buy a 1.6 and turbo it yourself.
And as for information on how to do a turbo conversion, there's at LEAST 5 posts a week on this subject-just look down the page or on the next page!

Some are more usefull than others but as you can see, this gets posted quite a lot!
to convert a 1.6 to a turbo (properly) will cost a good few K plus the insurance hike
i bet its about the same "value" to drop an LET in and insure it.
provided things are left relatively std

1.6 t conversion suits the nova better anyway; not gaining any more weight as such. - if ur rich up to 180-200bhp isn't impossible.

would it be better to use a 1.6 corsa gsi engine??

probably yes. Would get more for your money but you'd have to fork out for Crsa GSi engine which is 2-4 times more money than the 8v.

I would sooner send my car to Courtenay than to Regal or Just Novas. Rick
velos did a 1.4 16v turbo and it made around 200bhp, but they are no longer in business

I wouldnt send mine to any of them!!! All shoddy work and over priced

u'll get a better sense of achievment when u do stuff yourself! i do neway.

ROFLMFMO but i see you have fitted a ever reliable EDS chip to your car.
At the end of the day either do a 1.6 turbo properly using proper management like neil did or dont do it. Like tuning eny engine, either fit fully mappable engine management and get it mapped properly or fit a 5th injector, sky high fuel pressure and injectors running at nearly a 100% duty cycle and expect to rebuild it often (EDS do this on all there phase chips). Rick
kind of off subject here, but what does ROFLMFMO mean?
ROFLMFMO mean?

justnova's ?5000 xe conversion says it all really.
i be you can do it for ?800 if you find the right people to buy the stuff off

the 5000 is for a rebuilt xe with over sized pistons remember
oh u get the engine !?
sorry i wasn't aware they chucked you an engine in the 5 grand. I spose with the coilovers e.t.c that's not toooo bad
still alot more expensive than doing it ureself !

thanx for the comments, ive decided might as well get a let transplant as the insurance group is near enough the same anyway.

the insurance group and what they will actually quote you is two totally different things
u could insure a cav turbo for cheaper than a nova with a let in for the simple fact that the nova is going to be MUCH faster than the cav
