Would a 1.2 Head work well with a 1300 Bottom end?

actaully you use a 1.2 head gasket.

I know cause i got a 1.2 head on a 1.3 block.

saying that a 1.3 gasket may work.


And a 1.2 head on a 1.3 block is better than using a 1.3 head for a few reasons including:
1. Higher compression ratio (slight more power)
2. Better flow than 1.3 head.

1.3 gasket would work, and may even be better for compression. (unless it's like twice the thickness of the 1.2 gasket). If however they are the same thickness then the 1.3 would be better.

1.3's have a smaller bore than the 1.2.

So if you use a 1.3 gasket it will be blocking off a slight amount of the combustion area for the 1.2 cylder head.

a 1.2 gasket is bestest. :wink:

Exactly 1.3s have a smaller bore than a 1.2, therefore using a 1.2 gasket will create a chamber between the block and head, using the 1.3 gasket (if of equal thickness of ourse) eliminates this effectively raising the compression ratio and creating a better seal.

yes. 1.2i head is poo poo. Similar to the 1.4sr.

where i've got an over bore on my 1.3 block a 1.2 head gasket is better suited.

I wouldn't think it would make much difference which u use on a standard block anyway.

get a gasket set and make your own perfect one, a 1.2 creates a sticky out bit and a 1.3 one makes a small chamber. so make you r own and feel youve acheived something. they are quite cheap anyway i do beleive..
