Had to go pay for some work thats been done on the car, thought rather then go down to the bank i'll use the atm in the shop (them dodgy cash machines that are in garages etc you all must of seen them!). Put my card in, entered pin, entered the amount i wanted (?250) and waited for the money to come out... and waited.. and waited... after about 5 minutes a message appeared saying that they couldnt complete the transaction. I thought okay I went to the bank and tried to withdraw the money. it had told me that Id gone over my daily atm withdraw limit. I rang them up and they told me I'd just withdrawed ?250 from an atm (i.e. the one that came up with the error) hence being over the limit. I told them I havnt had any money and they said they'll have to investigate but wont b looking at it till thursday. So not only did I have to use one of my credit cards but im ?250 down which I may not get back! So my xmas warning to you lot dont withdraw large amounts from garage/shop atms. in fact next time you see it give it a big fucking kick cuz im well pissed off now. ?250 is a lot of money to be without over xmas. Oh and my car started but then stalled and wouldnt restart. :-( Im not having a good nite.

i have used one at a service station, and started to withdraw money saw they were gonna charge me to do so, so fucked it off, not paying to get my own money! and cancelled it.

saw statement and it said the money was withdrawn, and then credited back later on in day, i suspect thats what is up with yours, just slow in crediting the money back.

Ive used the machine before and its been okay and the shop is a good regular shop. Worst thing was the atm charged me the ?1.50 but I hadnt even accepted it yet. At least we know how the atms work, get your money first before they give you theres!. I'll just have to weight until after xmas for the refund, or im moving bank. I hope what happens is what you've said ian.

As for my engine my cam belt snapped and killed my engine (bucket full of broken bits). I was having a 1.6 head put on (ported polished and gasflowed), unfortunatly there is a breather hole that goes right through the head (I think number 3) on my SRi there isnt one and therefore flames would be shooting out. lol. So he ported polishd & GF my 1.4Sri head and stuck that back on (with new valves, tappets, well basically a bucketfull worth of stuff). even cleaned all the engine said most of the breather pipes where clogged up. thats what the ?250 is for, fixing the engine and the head work). tried to start it last nite and it wouldnt start at first, gave it a little gas and it started. sounded really deep. then it stopped :-(. no compression on cylinder 4 now, he reckons one of the valves is probably stiff being new. so hopefully I should get it back today.

mechanics hate me I think cause what seems like a simple job never is!! thats why I always get a quote before the work is started!

"he reckons one of the valves is probably stiff being new"

That's a good one! Sounds like bollox to me - wot he probably means is he didn't change all the bent 1's and get the guides and followers sorted out properly. Make sure he does it properly cos he's screwed up. Noway are they ever "stiff being new"
