oil leak

right i've just bought a nice little played with 1.2 (12st block,wherever thats from!, 1300 head, four branch manifold and magnex system and a pierburg 2e carb,unsure of cam) but it seems to burn oil whenever u start up and doesnt seem to stop,theres also a build up of oil round the little ledge where the engine number is stamped.

The car has bin sitting for a year prevous and hasnt had a proper run yet as im banned at the moment,back on the road in two weeks!

so any ideas as to whats going on would be great

wel if it is burning oil all the time, then it will be the piston rings.

as for the leak it will be your cam cover gasket that is leaking or your dissy oil seal or both.

1.3 head will make it slower

sorry to sound dumb but whys the 1.3 head worse than the 1.2? :?

if i changed back to a 1.2 head will the inlet and exhaust manifolds i'v currently got fit?

It's not if it's been smimmed. Only the tiniest difference anyway.

Yes they will fit a 1.2 head if you do change.
