tricky one this, handling only really starts to get affected when you start putting 17's on. 16's are meant to be the comprimise between big hoops and good handling. With the right tyre you should be ok

I'm onmy second nova nowI had 16's on my last one and 15'son the present but have just changed themto 16's. I havent noticed a huge hange in the handling to be honest so compared to 15's I wouldn't think they'll be much different.

Hmmmm ok...sounds like I might be getting myself a set of 16's then.

Tyre-wise I was thinking along the lines of 195/45/16 ?

What if they are 205/45/16

are 205's too wide for a Nova to get awesome handling?

would 40's not be a harsh ride though?

dont really want a harsh ride...and they expensive aint they?

Are the wheels likely to rub otherwise (if not 40's)?

Dunlop's? Havent heard much of them mate...how do they compare to Toyo Proxes T1-s Pirelli's etc

Are you planning on going into serious competition, or do you want some wheels that will look good?

Also, what budget do you have?

Unless you're going into serious competition you'll be fine with either 15's 16's.

cheers lads

no...not going into serious competition Jim, they would be going on my everyday road car. Just that I'm killing so many cars on roundabouts and corners I dont want to lose it! I have proper comp spec Bilsteins on my car so I think I will get the camber adjusted too which should help it stick better.

Reason I ask is that I'm currently looking at a set of 16's with tyres for ?300 second hand...although two are on the limit.

Ok Ste i wont skimp on tyres...What would people specifically recommend?

you would get away with 50 profile but sod that, go for the 45's and thats a compromise on looks and wallet burnin 8)

Even with 17's on i would not say my nova handled any worse than my 1.2 with 15's on. Ok its a little harsher but not much worse. Rick
