Is it possible to convert the 8v to 16v on the corsa c 1.4 lumps? If so what is needed to do the conversion?.

Thanks all

cylinder head, pistons, all the injection stuff unless putting it on T40's exhaust manifold,

Its the same block, crank, rods, sump etc i believe

would be easier to swap the engine ?

swop the lump, cheaper and easier

rods are different, arent they? IIRC Corsa items are stronger

It would be easier, yes i agree but its for my mate, who lives in south africa and they dont have that 16v lump ova there, and was thinking of buying the 16v head and taking back home.

Thanks all

You'd need head comlete, pistons too. The rods are different, but you wouldn't notice unless you're gonna rev it over 8k. And the exahsut manifold is different and the inlet. I also think the map would be too different in the ecu's of the 8v and 16v, but I'm yet to try swapping them around.

more than just the map j1400

its a totally different ecu

8v runs batch injection, 16v uses sequential

16v has some extra sensors too (prolly related to the sequential injection)

just put the engine in a crate and ship it over

Most of the additional loom is EGR secondary air pump related. the only bit that is SFi is the cam poss sensor. it would still run on the 8v ecu and DIS I bet. but the increase in XE over 4k that the 8v doesn't have would make it run lean.
