How you gonna get the hubs/drive shafts off if you aint got a spanner or a socket to fit?

Other necessities include but dont know if they count:

Trolley jack
bottle jack
axle stands (at least two)
maybe some ramps

90 degree screwdrivers
wire crimpers/cutters
wire brush
what are those things for measuring the gaps on spark plugs called?
metal files
Wizzer :D

and a great deal of patience and motivation :!:

Are we talking essentials or luxuries?

Air tools are definately a mechanics best friend, I lurve my wizzer in more ways than one :)

And Snap-on are worth every penny, I got my first Snap-on screw driver set from a bettery tray of a nova i bought years ago and have never looked back since.

Theyre not like cheap crap, when using a second spanner to lever another cheap crap just bends!!!!!!!

Buy cheap buy twice!

Ye i suppose Ben,

Broke my Halford's ratchet at some point over the weekend.
Couldnt pop the bottom ball joint so had to work around it.
Used me feet to lever the halford ratchet to undo the tai bar bolts.

It only works in one direction now :?

30mm deep halfords pro socket.

impact sockets are a good compromise for a "deep" set as they are good for allsorts of tasks

as for snapon, my kennedy tools were of near equal quality (ok no lifetime warranty but hey) to snapon as a fraction of the cost.

a good screwdriver set, with atleast one BFO flat blade one that you can use as a lever.

a 24" breakerbar is a must too.

basically you buy tools as you do certain jobs and then you buy tools that can assist in general jobs too.

ratchet spanners are a gift from the gods and worth every penny! mine were in constsnt demand for changing the pads/discs on a hummvee :)

Nah, u dont need a steering wheel puller, just yank them off.

You need specialist tool to pull out the headlight switch from the dash but you can make them urself.

One essential is a coat hanger
