So if the 1.4/1.6 16v's are being called mini valvers dose that mean we can call 2.0l 8v...

Does anything with 16 valves and a capacity of under 2.0 count as a 'mini valver'

is a 1.2 16v a tiny valver :|

1l 12V then? lol

the 1.8 is a "big block" too you know (although i swear there was a small 1.8 made for the corsa, but maybe i went mad)

mini valver sounds pooooooo i think baby valver is better as it has less relation to that horrific piece of pig iron engineering that was the mini

That makes the C20 XE a Baby Valver as well as they are 1987cc LMAO

I thought about typing in the actual capacity... but surely no one would be so pedantic! Would they?

I'd say any small block with the head on is a "baby" valver (and aparently the 1.8SRi corsa C is small block)
And anythign with the cosworth design head is a "valver" (20XE, C20XE)
And the C18XE is a horrible creation, as its neither.

The coscast heads are only on abou 5% of the 2.0l 16v's.

well does the letters 'XE' mean its a valver then?

X means the compression ratio is between 10 & 11.5
E means its Multi-point fuel injected.

says that in tv explains all of them

But they designed them head though, As lotus ddn' make any of the babyXE heads, still their design.

actually the head on the first of the 'baby valvers' the C16XE, was desighed by cosworth as well, the engine was then effectivly detuned by lotus so that it would pass all of the emissions bollox, lotus engineered all of the inlet manifold/tubing/ airflow meter/ etc, and on the early ones there was a lot of inlet tubing...

Could well explain why the C16 XE head is soooo Bad!!!

DrivingSpanner

No the head on the c16xe is actually damn good, just the inlet cr4p thay put on the outside of it is soo bad, and the map on the standard ecu aint to clever either its rather lean to get it through the emissions (and fuel ecconomy) when new, unfortunatly when you take some of the standard inlet off and 'free it up' with air filter etc it makes it even worse, not so bad that it will det or sieze or anything but replace the map and you will gain about 5 bhp just from it running richer, that is why they gain so much from having a 'super chip'. GREAT LITTLE ENGINE, rubish management

Got to disagree with you again there as the C16 XE suffers amazingly with head problems and im not on about inlet as thats easily sorted.

The stem seals go on all corsa GSi's after about 50k miles and then they just get progresivly worse.

I have never heard of one of these engines lasting to 100k miles without the head being reworked.

As a std engine they are indeed pretty poor. But as a head design it's pretty good. SBD managed 256 on a std head casting :o

Plus the valves are of a Hi-Flow profile. Once ported it's amazing breathing capcity you're just limited to the Cams you can fit and rev's you can go to.

thats the point that i was trying to get accross the head its self it good, just some of the components/ parts use when the engine is standard arnt soo good, as for the stem seals i've never seen it so i will have to take your word for it... but these arnt actually part of the head, they are only a little piece of rubber!!!

LMAO

ok then the GSi im selling is immacualte, its just the compnents that are rusty (doors, wings, tailgate).

thats a bit different. valve stem seals gudes etc are consumable parts that are subject to ware and will need changing, doors tailgates etc are not, they are parts that rust due to bad desighn or poor maintanence
