I'm getting some body work done to my car soon. I've decided on getting Astra G door handles, flushed boot and widened front arches (wheel offset thing). I've also got GSi bumpers on. What I'm wondering is should I smooth out the ridges on the bumpers or leave them. I'll also be putting in a set of spots. I saw it done on a Nova in Total Vauxhall bout 4 or 5 months ago. Anyone got this done?

Totally disagree with you there.

Smoothed bumpers look brilliant (Dpnova's GTE mk2 back bumper for example!), and will personally be doing them on mine.

novas look great all smooth and subtle, and there are some nice ones about that have had the bumpers smoothed

if yer gonna smooth the bumpers get it done professionally.

If youre not sure how to do it yerself it'll look sh1te - and will more than likely crack. You can get special flexy bumper filler for smaller areas..

I'm in 2 minds ref smoothing - several people smooth the top line (where the stripe goes) and leave the thinner one.

As for spots - I fitted 2 into my GSi bumper and they looked well smart - pretty easy to do if you have access to mechano and dont mind cutting the panel behind to fit them (I used oval ring lights which were a tad deep - there wasnt much space behind the bumper).

Dont like spots mounted "externally" - if yer gona do any spots, keep the smooth lines and mount from behind.

I'll find a pic of the Nova from the mag. People can see then. It'll all be professionally done. You'd have to be either crazy or a pro yourself to try it.

This is the picture. Sorry about the quality. Does anyone know the make and model of the spots? Or if you know who owns it pass them on my e-mail address. muttly@esatclear.ie

I get a CGI error when i follow the link?
Other variables are probably declared somewhere within the web page and are passed to the CGI when the link is clicked.

I had smooth bumpers on my old nova. I did them myself and used the Fibreglass filler stuff first (after scoring the bumper) then used a mix of fibreglass and filler, then finished off with filler. They didnt crack, or at least not until someone crashed into the back of it.
