most modern cars have this now, but they lock the doors when you start the engine

its called anti hijack

shouldn't be that hard, just have to rig up a toggle switch to the soleniod

doesn't sound like a bad idea, might give it a try myself :D

couldn't give you a detailed guide cos i've never done it before, but i can't see it bein that hard.

im guessin you've got an sri, which comes with central lockin as standard, im guessing it would be easier to use an aftermarket solenoid, than tryin to rig it up to the vauxhall item.. i would buy a universal solenoid from maplin's etc, fit it, and rig up a swich and relay to it

thats all i can think of

right, i think you will have to find the live feeds for the push and pull motions on the solenoid, and just connect a live feed to each and run it through a relay then to the switch

:o omg why

just push the door pin down when you get in and job done since you already have c/l

there will be 5 wires going to your locking motors

a ground, "lock" signal, "unlock" signal, and the 2 motor feeds

now if u pulse the lock signal to ground it will lock
and similarly if u pulse unlock signal to ground it will unlock

however this means u need 2 switches - some kits have a nice feature whereby when its locked the lock signal line grounds itself and vice versa when its open the unlock is grounded

this means if u pulse the lock and unlock signals together u will lock or unlock the doors depending on which state its currently in

if its the maplin kit u have u want brown and white
black is ground and green and blue are the motor feeds

if u have those colors try tapping them together (just cut a small slit in the insulation to test it) and see what happens - if it locks do it again and see if it unlocks

if that works as planned then splice into both wires and run them to a switch (you need a Single Pole Normally Open non-latching push switch - any electronics shop should have them)

and that should do it

Any decent alarm offers this option.

Would be pretty simple really. Take a multimeter to the wires that activate the motors, then rig up some cable to a push button (Push to make or a non locking toggle switch or whatever style of switch you want just as long as it's non locking) so that the wire that goes positive when the car is locked goes positive when the switch is pressed.

Couldn't you just rig it all up with a relay to something that knows when the engine is running? or switched live?

my alarm did this. wen the switched live is on and you press you foot on the brake pedal for 5seconds it locks the doors. and when you turn the ignition off it unlocks them.

Say you have an accident and you need to open the door quickly and for some reason cant get to the door pin, your truely f**ked, just a thought.
