hey ppl i hav a problem as i dnt really know a gr8 deal about engines. ive managed 2 take the 1.2 carb engine out of my nova n mount the 1.4sri. ive connected all of the coolent pipes and most of the wiring but ive got 2 problems.

1:theres a black connector with nine pins in it which iz near the 2 connectors 4 the ecu and i dnt no were it goes or which wires i need n dnt need.(the engine and loom are from a corsa sri if that helps at all).

2:how do i go about wiring up a fuel pump? can i just run it 2 a switch sumwhere in the car then it can act as a fuel cut off immobilizer type thing if u no wot i mean.
oh yer the engine and loom

thnx

quick tip, stop using text/chav typing and more people will help you faster.

if you have a complete 1.4sri, why are you bothering to get a 1.6 head skimmed to suit (esp if you dont know what your doing). What id suggest, If your still hell bent on having the 1.6 head is to take it to your local engineering place (that does head skims) and ask them to match the head volume of the 1.4 (take that head too)

ok let me explain. ive put the 1.4sri engine into my car and now ive found that ive been given the wrong ecu for the engine. I was going to just buy a new ecu but everywhere that i have rang has told me that there are 6 diferent ecus for this engine and if i buy the wrong one it wont work. As i dont hav the origional ecu i dnt no which one i need to buy.
this is why i wanted to fit the 1.6gte head to my 1.4sri bottom end as i already have the 1.6gte head wiring loom and ecu. Im not trying to improve the bhp of the engine or anything like that i just want to get the stupid thing running.
The reason i m asking about the wiring of the 1.4sri loom to my car is my friend has a corsa sri and he said i could try his ecu if i get everything wired up. i just thought i mite aswell try it then if it works my problem would be solved i would just buy the same ecu as the one he has.

just tell us what you have...

it wont run right if you just bung the 1.6 head and ecu etc on as the ECU is setup for a 1.6 capacity engine, not a 1.4

oh well

ive run a 1600 ECU on a 1400 block and although it wasnt perfect it did work reasonably well - it didnt chuck out black smoke or owt - just ran a bit on the rich side

an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a short rolling road session should sort it a bit more

however u dont need to touch the 1400 head

the gte/gsi inlet manifold will match up just fine with the sri head

the only thing you'll need to do is blank off the egr cos im sure the 1400 head doesnt have it

i also cant see why there are 6 ECU's for that engine there are only 2 variations of the engine im aware of - the nova/corsa sri one which has twin downpipes and the astra version which has a single downpipe plus a possible 2 more for dizzy and dispak versions of these 2

i dont understand why there would be six different ecus either im just going on what ive been told by the manufacturers. im gonna try my m8s ecu from his L reg corsa sri and if that works im just gonna buy one the same as that, it should work his engine looks identical and i believe my engine is from an L reg aswell.
