the pierburg 2e3 carb from the sr or the 1.3 mk2 astra, you do have to use the 1.3 manifold tho, check out the articals section its all in there under the engine > 1.2 engine section

yeah get a Webber 32/34 on it. thats what im looking for at the moment. you will need the 1.3 inlet manifold and the throttle cable tho. im told that it makes quite a difference
if your on a budget the pieburg 2e3 is a good choice, otherwise the twin 40's off a nova 1.3 sport would be the best bet. I saw an original air box of one on ebay the other day.

You dont have to have 1.3 throtle cable! You can just bodge the original one! Thats what I did and it works! But bodge, so will fix it when it comes to it! :)

Still don't understand how they fit though! I've *just* brought a flair 1.2 so don't really know the engines too well. where can i get the 32/34 or the pierberg ones form??
MK1, 1.3 SPORT = twin weber 40DCOE
MK1, 1.0 = weber 32TL (not worth using on any other engine cuz its poo!)
MK1/2, 1.2/1.3 = pierburg 1B1 (single choke i think?)
MK1, 1.3/1.4SR = pierburg 2E3 TWIN CHOKE (this is the one you want!)
1985-89
MK2, 1.4SR = Now, im pretty sure that the carb on this is a single
choke version of a 2E3. however im not entirely sure?
With the twin choke 2E3 you CAN feel the difference, i now have one on my nova (MK2 SR) and you WILL feel the difference.
Combine this with an airfilter and a decent exhaust system + manifold and you WILL gain between 8-12Bhp. That is real world experience, not pub talk!
I no its not loads considering what it might cost in parts, but luk on eBay. Thats wot i done and got everything i needed for under ?280.
Tips-
Ive found that K an N replacement filters work better than bolt-on's? unless its just me.
Ashley motorsport do a huge range of Manifolds, down pipe's and systems.
Cheap price, not cheap qaulity (01922 720767)
Ive now got a Magnex cat back system connected to the above parts, and the whole lot sounds/performs like bread and butter.
unfortanutley, Magnex have stopped making exhausts for Nova's. the last few are on eBay for ?90 (once reserve is met) cuz thats wot i paid for mine!
Hope this helps, bit long i no,. but gud for future reference

all peirburg 2e3's are twin choke.
I had one on my 1.2/1.3 before i switched to a Weber 32/34. I can say the Weber was better performance and did more mpg.
Pierburg 2e3 has 28mm/30mm chokes i think where as the Weber is obv 32/34, so its gonna be better.
+ the manual choke on the Weber is so much better than the awfull Automatic choke on the 2e3.

i'd like to see a 1.2 on twin 40's, see what sort of gains are to be had. Apart from that i'd go for a webber 32/34 as all the nova carbs are fairly poor
snowface, ive never had a problem with my auto choke even on these really cold mornings :|

So where can i get a weber 32/34 to go straight onto a 1.2? I know the standard carb is a pierburg and its single choke....
look on ebay for someone selling one from another nova. or go to the scrappy for one. i got a new one and what a waste of cash that was. could have got the same thig fro a tenner that i paid 200 quid for
32/34 is fitted standard on Land Rover 90's and 110's

so if i rob one carb off a landy 90 it'll go straigh on with a sr inlet manifold and throttle cable?? how easy is it all to fit myself? (compitent mechanic)
No it won't. When you get a Weber 32/34 meant for a Nova, it comes with an adaptor plate which lets it fit the Nova manifold. If you've got the tools, you could make an adaptor plate and studs yourself, I suppose.
- Or you could just wait and get one that came from a Nova.
To be honest, i think the twin 40's would be a bit big unless you really jetted them down! I know there rare but if you could get hold of a pair of twin 38's then i think you would be laughing. Probably be looking at about a 17-20 bhp increase if set up properly!

No worries there mate. twin 40's will fit anything from 1 ltr. upwards (bet that's given some people ideas "twin 40's on me 1.0, eh?"...)
