not sure on the exact ammount but why not get a 1.4 head, with valves and spark plug in and measure the volume of that, then do the same with the 1.6 head and calculate from there.

if your unsure ill explain a bit better later on when im home

that wud b gr8 if u could explain it in simple turms thanx as i dnt really no a gr8 deal about engines. do u no if it wud definitly work if i used the 1.6gte loom and ecu wiv the 1.6gte head on the 1.4sri bottom end? as i hav very little cash and i already hav these parts available.

For the price of the skim, clean, test, gasket etc etc why not buy a GTE/GSi bottom end and then just have a 1.6?

i cant afford 2 insure a 1.6gsi/gte otherwise i wud. im only 19 n ive got no ncb.

so you have a 1.4 sri bottom end but no loom/intake etc?

umm anyway as far as im aware the 1.4 sri head is nearly the same as the 1.6 head (bar prehaps the compression ratio lark)

what engine is in your car at the mo?

ive got the complete 1.4sri engine and wiring loom but no ecu. ive also got a 1.6gte head wiv wirin loom and ecu so thats y i woz wonderin if i cud fit the 1.6gte head 2 the 1.4sri bottom end as i hav the correct loom and ecu for it. but i dnt no how much wud need skiming from the 1.6 head.

Hi,

Sorry to steal the post, but do you by any chance know how high your 1.6gte head is, from sealing surface to sealing surface? I really could use the info!

Cheers!

if u tell me where to measure i can find out 4 you i jus dnt hav a clue about engines really

You measure it from the flat surface where it meets the block to the flat surface where it meets the cam carrier box.
If you still don't get it, think of the head as a box. Put it on a flat surface with the valve side down, and measure how high it is!

Cheers!

err just stick the GTE inlet manifold on the 14SRi head and use the GTE loom

should work fine although u may need to blocvk the EGR port on the inlet manifold if the C14SE head doesnt have the outlet

and the fuelling wont be perfect, will bog down in places as mine did this with a similar setup

i've got a spare ecu for an SRi :D

Maybe I dont understand something but whats the point of putting 1.6 head on 1.4 engine? Usually people do it vice versa to increase compretion ratio. But what 1.6 head do on 1.4 bottom end.... I am really not sure! Can someone explaine please?

bigger valves

although i think the SRI has same sized valves as the 1.6, but dont quote me lol

Forget about the GTE head, the only difference between it and the SRi head is the ssize of the combustion chamber. You'll be better off with the SRi head no matter what you do to the GTE one.
