check that the radiator fan works for a start?

1 of these is at fault:
1) Thermostat in side of head is knackered
2) Hose blocked
3) Rad blocked
would take MUCH more than 5 minutes for the rad switch to activate so that can be discounted. Would need a supply of water first which it isnt getting by the sounds of if.

sounds silly but make sure you have got coolant in it.
test the fan cuts in:
if yes then poss air lock.
if no then take connecter off the fan switch. brige the two wires together and if the fan spins then its going to be a faulty fan switch

yep could be 1 of those, what about air lock, faulty water pump or head gasket failed. personnally i'd make sure the fans working first before you go changing any parts.

hi mate. what you think rad is blocked? if so take your top hose off and your bottom hose off and get the good old garden hose out. put it in the top hose pipe inlet. (the one which is on the left at the top or the rad as you look at it) turn tap on and just see how much flow you have through it.
