Brake lights and sidelights keep comin on?!?!

i know there are a few posts on ere about this but the search thing dont wrk! :evil:

if i sit with the ignition off but side/main lights on, and press the brake pedal, the ignition comes on

and if i put the ignition on, but lights off, and press the brake pedal, the sidelights come on

its something to do with earthing but has any1 managed to source the prob.

Have u recently wired up anything on the ignition, like an alarm/immobilizer, coz i had a similar problem when i came to wiring my alarm, only difference was that the ignition would come on and not go off.

Its usually a dogy earth, check your main earth connection coming of from the battery aswell m8.

thats all i can think of, and i know what u mean about the search, its defo crap, and it will take u all yr goin through the posts.

nah the only thing ive done to the engine bay is stick an induction kit on, which im guessing shouldnt have owt to do with it! lol

otherwise i tend not to even look at it due to the rust, so it is probably likely that somethings worn away.

yep must be, but check your Main earth cable as well, the 1 comin off the battery

You've put single filament bulbs in your brakelights, simple as that!

And before anyone goes oh no it's not - I guarantee you that is what it is!

ive just returned from town with new bulb and bingo!!, it worked!
