My cam on my nova 1300 i've been told is a kent highlift one. But it dose'nt seem to lumpy down low revs. May sound silly but apart from higher lobes and so on is there any marking or writing on the cam to identify it, the head and rocker are still on the car so any way of telling looking in from the top. Thanks.

if you take the cam pulley off there should be some letters on the end of shaft. can't remeber what mine were.

could phone kent cams to ask what they should be.

Don't fancy taking the pulley off, could'nt be arsed timing again and the bas*ard water pump seal will probaly leak this time, just lucky last time the belt was changed lol. Would i be able to see a difference looking at my cam and having a standard one beside me?

i think there will be a code on the dizzy side, not too sure on that, it might be the pulley though

take the distributer off i think the code is at that end of the cam. remember to mark the dizzy first though, save you having ignition timing set up

hiya mate, not to sure what type of stamp they may of put on the side of the cam. but dont be mif'd by the words high lift cam. because you cant really make a valve open further. you can only change the amount of time the cam hold's the valve open for. if you take the cam cover off and look at the cam. if the lobe's are pointy them i would say its standard. if its more rounded at the top off the lobe its got a good chance of being an after market one

If its a Kent cam it will have the letters KC than AST or NVO and a Number stamped in the Dizzy end of the camshaft.

intresting ;) so why do you get aftermarket cams with over double the standard lift? hmmmmmmm talking from downstairs are we?!

you can adjust everything to do with the cam if you have the time and money. timing, lift, overlap, ramp velocity, opening/closing flanks etc

if you pocket your pistons you can buy cams that have much higher lift.
