I really need some help please!
I am putting weber 32/34 with inlet manifold, I am also changing cam housing with 1.4SR cam. The final touch is I need to change my timing belt!
Now I am pretty scared about the whole thing tomorrow! I am going to be changing the webber myself and I was hoping to do the camhousing myself but I am sacred to do the cam... :oops: I am not experienced enough and I wont be able to do the timing belt either. I was hoping to get it done by the garage, but I have no idea how much they going to rip me off for... Aparently timing belt change is very expencive...
Can you please advice me what shall I do?
:oops:

changing cam belt on a nova = piece of piss mate. the water pump is tensioner which is nice and easy really just make sure you mark everythin up correctly and youll be laughin
as for the cam, itll be case of compare and contrast really
sorry if im no help at all but just got back from the club and im pro[per pissed!

is your nova a 1.2? if so then the cam belt pulley (and cambelt) will most likely be different to the 1.4 one.
1.4 has square notches in pulley teeth and the 1.2 has curved ones.
i found this and though the 1.2 belt will fit onto the 1.4 pulley, it runs like a bag of nails cause the timing is moving slightly all the time.
1.2 = (
1.4 = [

So if I replace whole cam housing from 1.2 stand to 1.4 sr then i will need 1.4 SR cambelt? Thats my understanding. :?:

u need to match your cam pulley with the other 2 pulleys and use the timing belt for the block
ie keep the original 1.2 cam pulley and use a timing belt for the 1.2
most 1.2s also had the better teeth it was only the very very early engines that had the shallow square teeth
is the timing belt cover square top or round top?
if its squaretop u probably have an autotensioner too which makes it easier to fit the belt
Changing the cam belt and doing the timing is easy on novas.
Like Aragorn said most of them have an auto tensioner.
Otherwise all you need to do is twist the water pump and it tensions the belt. THe water pump is concentric so as it twist its position changes.
You could also change the bottom pulley so that the two match. But like Aragorn said, make sure you put the pulleys back on in the correct position otherwise your timing will be out.
The pulleys on the crank a 'V' grove cut out of the adge, just make a mark on the block where it was.
Thee cam pulleys have an 'V' etched into the wall, again make a mark on the cam to show where it was.

I do not have autotentioner (round cover of the cam puley) so will have to play with the water pump! With puleys I understand too, so will just change to the 1.2 one!
When I take puley of one 1.2 and put it onto 1.4 cam how do i make sure that the cam and the puley aligned as original or it doesnt metter?
YES IT DOES!
Just find where the 'V' on the side of the pulley is pointing and make a mark on the side of the cam with some tipex or a pencil or something.
When you put the new pulley on just align it with the mark you made.
Another way of doing it would be to turn the crank (whilst the engine is still together and the timing belt is still on) until the 'V' on the pulley is aligned with the timing marker on the side of the cam.

i think you'll find the pulley will only go on 1 way as there is a tooth on the camshaft that fits through a hole in the pulley to make sure its correctly lined.

common problem on the water pump tensioned engine no one mentioned is that, when the water pump is shifted the seal usually breaks so it leaks water of course it depends if it has ever been replaced. If i was u i'd get a seal just in case, it should only cost a few quid. My friends and I have had this problem regular before.
