ive just been given a 30quid fine for a "defective exhaust" because its too loud apparently
its an ashley system which as far as i was aware was a group a spec system
group a rally cars are road legal which would suggest this system must be legal on my car
does anyone have any links to the regulations so i can check them out??
cheers
Kevin

i need a copy of the:
Motor Vehicle (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986
but googling is only turning up recent amendments to this act
these regs should be a public resource so anyone know where i can find a copy?
sorry i cant help but i take it they gave ya no warning to change it or anything
my mate was lucky then his exhaust is blowing at the downpipe and the back box fell off lol and he just got a warning

i got pulled over as well recently for same scenario. they gave me some some bullshit about how if it wasnt standard and OE spec then it was illegal etc etc
At the end of the day if it will pass an MOT then it is road legal. End of story. I got back at pigs by going to MOT station, got letterheaded note sayin that my car would pass MOT with current exhaust on, and the pigs cant argue with a thing really.

hope it helps.
That document is regarding new cars built, hence 'construction' in the title.
The MOT regulations that that the car will not make more sound than what it should for a vehicle of that type (not exact words). That means that it is up to the tester really.
