5 speed for 4 speed?

can you do straight swop 5 speed box for a 4 speed on a1.2 carb and will it improve anything e.g top end speed or quieter motorway cruising.

You will get faster acceleration but lower top end.
Not much point a 1.2

i fitted a 1.3sr 5 speed box to my old 1.2. couldn't tell much difference with acceleration, better top end.

4 gears = faster acceleration
5 gears = faster top end

4-speed box you don't get faster acceleration.

5-speed will be better acceleration only if its a close ratio box.

The wide ratio 5-speeds have the same ratio's as the 4-speed in 1-2-3-4 gears.
