i have a 1.4sr running on 15's, not lowered yet, when i bought it, it had 185 55 r15's on the back and 195 50 r15's on the front. firstlt does this seem wierd, or does any1 else have this combo. if not will it cause any problems at all???
i need new front tyres, so what would people suggest getting? the same again for the fronts? also how much can people get them for cos around my way its well expensive. any suggestions?

cheers

id say go for the same size as the rears

and try event mobile tyres (search on google for them) as they did me a cracking deal on 2 odd sized eagle F1's

i expect rears will be undersized to clear uncut arches

195/50 15
or
195/45 15

will both be ok sizes

Tyre sizes are vital, go for the same all round and even the same brand. If you can, get brand new as well. Its amazing the way it'll handle better, but if you really want you could try fitting wider tyres on the rear. I find it steadys up the rear no end!

will prob go for 195 50's agian on the front. wil leave the rears for now and maybe see what will fit on once the rears wear out, spose will need some arch work if i put 195 50's on the rear and lower it?

45's are 110% improvement.

why are they such an improvement? what do u gain then? apart from a bit of extra clearence?

i'd imagine more direct steering due to less sidewall flex

Im driving round in a Corsa GSi which is on 195/55/15"s and it is hellraising there is so much wall flex.

Avon do a good 195/50/15, zz1??, the sidewall is larger and stronger on them and is a little more forgiving than 45s but not as bad as other 50s.

Plus I find them near to the F1s in terms or grip but they last a little longer and don't screetch as much.

I used to run 50s on the front with a good 45 on the back
