I have just fitted in a brand new bosch unit, in a 1.2 nova, and it is charging correctly, however my engine will no longer switch off from the ignition,(I can actually take my keys away and engine will run on)
I have manged to switch my engine off by taking off the spade type connection on the alternator, the engine will cut out as soon as this spade conncetion is pulled out.
I have now noticed that without this spade wire plugged in, my car can be started as normal, and also be switched off from the ignition as normal, how weird.
Would it be best to leave this wire off, or is it likely to damage my alternator as the unit still seems to charge without it plugged in.
Here is a pic of my unit:
The wires marked red and blue have been connected up.
The one marked with a yellow arrow is the wire that i have had to disconect coz it, wont let my car turn off from ignition, does any 1 know wot the hell is wrong here, it is marked with 'D+' what ever that means
