Best off looking at the engine numbers:

E16SE
C16SE
etc

You'll probably find they're all the same wether theyre in a Cav, Astra or a Nova

(P.S theres loads of threads on here about what the engine numbers relate to)

you can fit any any vauxhall 1.6 into a nova as long as its not one of the new ones, Corsa GSI, astra, cav, tigra. The nova will prpbably be the only one that wont need to have anything changed on it to fit.

actaully some of the older 1.6's were big block's.

DONT fit a cav/astra 1.6 engine they are about 60BHP and awful stick with the e16se or c16se (GSi/GTE).

The C16SE is nigh on identical as the ones fitted in the new shape astras etc.

i was under the impression that the 1600 8v's used in mk4 astras and vectra were single point injected

Have sold people C16SE to replace them and they go straight in.

i have a 1.6 carb engine out of a h reg cavalier. unsure of engine codes. fits straight in with nova engine mounts. mines pushing 118bhp. very nippy

That is pushing out nearly double the production line BHP so obviously not standard.

i think the standard bhp must be more than 60bhp, surely. it kept up with gsi's before modifications. i heard they were around 85bhp. surely i haven't gained nearly 60bhp from just a rally cam, weber carb, 4 branch, vernier pulley and lightened flywheel.

do you have neon washer jets? they must add about 10bhp
