the wiring is possible there is supposed to be an amplifier module i think, you need to make sure you have an SR coil aswel and go from there. Off the top of my head i cannot remember how the wiring goes but i shall have a look on my motor and post again tomorrow.
Secondly the gear linkage will all need adjusting otherwise you will find you only have 3rd 4th and 5th. this is what happened to me anyway. Ideally you need a special tool from vauxhall to insert to lock up whilst the gear linkage is adjusted, but this is all explained in the supplements section at the back of Haynes manual

yes the 1.2 an sr coils are the same... the gearlever on a 4spd has a plastic part that will stop you from going accross to where 5th is (Look under the gear lever boot(plastic floppy material) thingy... cut it out and you will be able to move the lever over enough... look in thye haynes manual in the front main bit then look at the pics in the revised bit near the back it might make more sense then...

STOP the coils are NOT same the sr coil is a round bosch one which has and clip running to the dizzy on the 1.4 you will need this and it wire up with the black wire from your old coil to the new black - the brown wire on the new coil is an earth and the green wire is for a rev counter
as said b4 if you need a pic let me know =- ihad this prob when i fitted my 1.4
what he said about the gear leaver is right though if you lift up the boot you will see a white plastic thing attached to the stick you have to cut a bit off the right hand side so that it doesnt hit on the wall of the tunnel when going for 5th - be patient when cutting this as it is aluminium under the plastic :D

u dont need to cut that shoulder off
just follow the haynes guide to aligning the linkage by locking the selector with a drill bit, holding the stick centralised against the left stop and tightening the pinch bolt
ive had my 4 speed shifter work perfectly with 2x F13's and an F15 all by simply following that guide

i believe that if you have one of those quick shift linkages you can do it without cutting the sholder off otherwise you wont have enough throw even when it is all lined up propper like...
