I'll keep it brief for now as just woke up for a min and totally shot BUT a big thankyou as per normal for those who helped along the way from picking bits up/sending bits/helping to get it all work  :!: :D (you know who you are)

As some of you know i purchased a gripper plate diff and some clocks off of Al Wilson (top bloke great transaction :D )

Diff almost fell into car and was easy to fit, results, as some of you that have been in with me i knew the limits of the car fairly well before. Now on the other hand it is truely stupid, the diff was set as i asked and is fantastic, you know its there all the time but the drive is as smooth as before and when entering exiting a corner there are no nasty shocks just the expected sensation of regardless of how much you give it, it just spits it out in disgust and asks for more. On track the car will now be complete and prove its worth ten fold, but on the b roads etc with how i have set the car up it is a true weapon and would/does ( ) hold its own against most things it comes up against. Obv i have abit more to go to learn its full ability.

The clocks went in well also with some trademark riflerange modifications to get them spot on. The speedo's accuracy is insane compared to standard clocks and exposes how bad things really are. My first form of proof on this is the fact that on pod i was crossing the line @ 94mph in fourth and hitting the limiter just after, the limiter is at 95.8 mph so thats confimed that. Esp as the tolerance is within 0.1mph from the unit.

Here's a few pics i got of the clocks when i got home, plenty more to follow from the weekend from Chris T

So there we have it the revmoval of the standard shitty diff. And the fitment of the new gripper plate diff. Took the car out and for a 1.6 its rather fecking quick! The diff now drives it through corners much harder. Uneven surface is no porblem with the gripper. This is where the Quaifes atb would struggle!! Altogether now he has a very well setup car. Definatly a back lane 'RAPER' (the car not dan)
nice one mate and well done to Cp again. As you can see he jumped infront the camera again. Always seems to be armed with a fecking hammer too??? :?: lol big thanks for using is workspace again and having us there! Glad to see you got the wiring all spot on to!!

NO you didn't! I woke up and someone had stolen them lol!!

Looks good mate, very impressed with the neat way you've got them all lined up! That 'shelf' they are sitting on is what I should of done lol I know what a complete pain it is to get them to sit straight on the Novas metal 'dashboard' lol

Excellent work, can't wait to see the further progress!

cheers guys, My personal view on the diffs was that there are more advantages to having a plate diff like this compared to the quaife, But if you live in a city and only ever drive around on smooth 'normal' roads then the quaife would be equal, until wet horrible days with puddles every where and water at the sides of the roads where the gripper would have an advantage again.

Living in the sticks like Charles means i am very happy with the choice i made, it is more suited to the crash and bang of the rough roads and when they get wet patches and leaves everywhere from the tree's etc. For cross country driving through the B roads as i said at first its just perfect.

There is still more to find out like on track etc which will follow in time and there's prob alot more to be said but getting it from my head and onto the keyboard isnt going to well still lol (Cp should be along soon with a nice long post  )

:o oh no the ghastly truth is out about rifle range motorsport! Seen in action with my only tools -1 lump hammer,1 copper mallet and a chisel - the shame of it

No seriously tuned Nova is complete without a diff - either will make a huge difference. Having driven both types now my opinion is there's nothing between the 2 on dry normal roads - the gnarlier it gets the better it becomes for the gripper. Both well mannered when not hammering it.
Don't know about how much maintenance will be needed for the gripper as yet but probably not much for a road car - every 2 years or so from what we hear - the atb needs none. Gripper a bit cheaper and more readily available. Both seemingly very well made. Atb not so easy to install in a F10/13 as the gripper.

Dans car drives absolutley brilliantly now - honest exciting with huge fun factor. The lack of weight means its up to silly speed in no time and into and thru corners its awesome. Once in the corner feed the power in and you are round as if on rails and gone. I might get slagged off for saying this but you'd need a pretty special scooby/evo to lose this baby now round the b roads. Not only is it a 14.5 sec quarter car which says a helluva lot but it can stop and corner to match those stats.
For the track suspension could be lower and stiffer but road use compromises that ideal. Some competition rubber will help a lot. Slicks would be ideal but buffed down road rubber like toyos etc would be nearly as good?

I popped up to Charles' Sunday morning to see how they were getting on (and also to put a few miles on my car ;)).

After getting the clocks up and running, Dan took me out for a spin and I have to say his car is amazing!

I'm running the same spec engine (or near enough) to Dan and I hope mine goes as well as his. Dan's spent relatively little money on his car and has a true "pocket rocket". Theres going to be very few road cars that will keep up with him down the B roads.

The handling is amazing and the power is fantastic.

It's a credit to Dan, CP and everyone else involved.

Nice :D I've been trying to decide about plate diff or ATB. Think that's clintched it though, I always wanted a plate effort as a ATB needs both wheels to remain on the ground and plate doesn't.

P.S what setting have you put on the diff?? :?:
