QED are also very good for xe tuning, http://www.qednet.demon.co.uk/index.htm
SBD Taper Throttle Body Kits for an XE
The number i.e. 208 denotes the horsepower - I have a TP208 kit on mine and its brilliant. Im quoting dizzyless kits. If you go to SBD's website you can get the price list for yourself.
TP208 - ?1,673.21
TP225 - ?2,540.28
TP235 - ?3,339.19
TP250+ ?5,063.47
TP275 - ?6,013.41
TP290+ ?10,628.45
The kits come with everything you need.
Hope this helps
That's +VAT though.
If you buy th einlet manifold from www.jenvey.co.uk and TB's turnpets,
Then airfilter from Proven products, then ecu of choice, ie MBE, DTA, emerald, OMEX then youc an do it for around ?1400-?1500 all in. But then you need to have it mapped on top of that. Same as for the SBD Kit. There's still a lot of debate as to whether the taper kits are any better than parallel bodies.
Personally I've got QED TDH bodies and run emerald ecu.

Unfortunetely those SBD figures ain't exactly true... A standard XE with just TB's will Produce around 175-185 bhp with no other mods... When I spoke to QED they were "Realistic" and said that those figures of SBD's where best cause figures (as in lots of other mods to compliment the kit). Basically American style figures
But having said that, I had the futune to watch Darrens XE Nova on just TB's go round Castle Combe! And boy was it quick!!!! So don't be to disheartened at the thought of only getting 25-35bhp for ?2000.
Neil
I can only go by the kit I bought but I didn't buy the exahust manifold to go with the kit that SBD say buy to get the full potential out of it. I've put my car on the rollers for a power run and go 200 bhp at the fly. So they can't be 'that' far out. i.e. not exagerated figures.
That was 150 at the wheels + 25% for loss of power thru the transmission.

i have just watched the vid of darren at that event at castle combe. and all in can say is wet pants
and its looks like TB's work very well with a 20xe. its just rips past cars on the track like they are standing still.

Wow that is good! if its just the TB's. Not saying you didn't see that on a Roling road, its just that QED say they get 200bhp with cams... and others in the past have claimed that the SBD figures for the 208... are a little far fetched, to say the least.
Fair play to you though, is that from the standard map that came with the MBE ECU? or have you had it tweaked?
Look forward to seeing in action again next year... Hopefully min will be ready by combe to give you a race :D
Neil
Its just the TB's, I do have a lighter flywheel but that just helps engine response. They are tapered throttle bodies though, however I think there is also a debate on how good the tapered TB's are up to normal ones.
I havent had the management re-mapped. I didn't want to touch it because it was running so well.
Can't wait for next year. Im looking forward to seeing more Nova's kicking ass around Castle Combe
I look forward to seeing you there.

Agreed....I went in it around Yate, it is an amazing beast.
SBD quote figures from closed cell dyno testing. But I'm also sceptical about tapers making 12BHP more than parallels, everythign I've seen says there's a midrange torque advantage to tapers but not top end.
Also SBD put on of there manifolds on. The std item is restrictive at 190BHP. lus they could have used a early coscast head, which is pretty well flowed compared to a stock KS item. so it could have happened, but it's not a representative test imo.
It's also worth sticking some verniners on and timing in the cams properly.
Oh DTH TB's from QED are ?560 with fuel rail and thottle linkage. :)
