Im looking at buying some coilovers. I like the design on the FK coilovers because they have the rear ride height adjustment on the original spring mounting and not as a coilover.

Has anyone used these before?

I will be going for the ones with damper adjustment. They will be used for track use only so no road running conditions are relevant.

Just out of interest if its for the track why are you worried about rear ride height adjustment?

My mate had the non dampening versions on his Corsa, It did handle very well on country roads, but was a little too soft on the track, but at a guess they would be good on a track if he'd been able to adjust the dampening as you want to.

If you look on Ebay within the next 6 days theres some quality Leda front coilovers for sale. Now there the kiddy! Rebound/height and dampening adjustable, perfect for what you want mate.

I was looking at the AVO's but im a little concerned that the rears will not fit. My current shockers run less than 5mm away from the tyre as they are. So I really can't see how you could fit a coilover on. Not unless they are smaller coilovers OR the spring is very short and does not come down to the tyre. Plus if I get them I will strengthen the mounts hence why I was looking at the FK's.

Its the rear ride height I really want to sort out because my car is light on the rear so it sits a little too high at the mo and over the winter its going to get lighter hence higher and it already looks a little odd.

I also want to drop the car a more and stiffen up the whole lot. The car handles great but I reckon I can get it better. Plus I want to adjust the camber and caster and set the corner weights.

So benji whats the score with the rear AVO's? are they smaller?

Im not worried about moding the rear too much, I just don't want to have to at the mo cos my Little bro who does all my wielding and fabrication is out of action.

Looking at the leda option now :D thanks for the link bruce

my avos are very close to the tyre but don't rub. when i fitted them i had a track day later the same week, so i just set them low. when i got to mallory on i had to abort the first session because the arch was bouncing on the tyre. i adjusted them then went back out and they were fine, they still rub slightly when on the road and set on soft, but when set to hard i had no trouble.

I have been running Avo coilovers all round on mine for 2 years now on 16's (speedlines ET49) very very low, with no reinforcing of the strut top and no scrubbige on the rear tyre (from the coilover). I run it with 5 seats in and for the last year stripped out. I have also completed many track days. And I have had no problems.....

I see you are running 16" Monza's..... would I be right in thinking they are around ET42-45??? Which means your tyres are actually spaced more away from the inner arch than mine, so you wil have no trouble at all in fitting them. The only thing you have to do is hit the inner arch with a large hammer to give them clearance. Which is a very rewarding job!

And no the springs don't sit higher than the wheel and tyre.... They go right down low (basically you can see them through the wheel if you go low.

My only down side to the AVO's was that the fronts wouldn't go low enough for what I wanted, so I rang AVO up and got them to do me some shorter front springs (About ?30 if I can remember right).

Its up to you mate. Like I said mine were used on a lot of trackdays.... Including the Ultimate.....THE NURUNBURGRING!!! :D I thinking anything that can survive that place is worth buying to be honest

i have avo coilovers too and rate them very highly, the best thing to do really is get yourself a set of billstein shocks then get the coilover conversion threads welded on for the height adjustment, most of the very competative mk1 and 2 escorts do this as you get massive value for money and awsome forest and track handling,

the conversions are about 30 quid a corner,

but on the avo front they are well to harsh for the road even on there softest setting but on the track they are a god as you can set up all you need, also the rebound adjustment acts also as a compression dampening adjustment unlike many other budget coilovers (spax etc)
