Yes was running, stuck in the garage now in bits though as its waiting to go to my mate garage who is to busy to have it in at the moment and i cannot be arsed with the fecking thing anymore. Rick
oh shut up rick.
you've been so patient upto now.
i hope you do finish it, as it will be amazing car.

Obviously you're not going to do anything, and this is just another one of those attention seeking threads.
But ok, lets pretend you do want advice/encouragement/honest opinions...
Here is mine: You shouldn't have bothered. All that time, money and effort, and it will still be 'ONLY A NOVA' in everyone's elses eyes. By which i mean, when someone asks you ''So, what do you drive?'' it doesn't matter what you tell them, all they will hear is ''...vauxhall NOVA...''. You can try to convince yourself, and others, that what others think does not matter to you, but we all know that is not the case.
Now add up all the money you have spent on it, and still need to spend, and see what you could have had instead!! Would the Nova command as much respect and admiration from such a wide scope of people, as the possible alternative would have done 'straight out the box'? It depends on the choice, but i think the answer is more than likely to be ''not''. With this car, you will still be seen as a 'Boy Racer in a Nova'. Personally, that'd piss me off.
I'd start stripping it for parts NOW, whilst there are people willing and able to still do stuff to Novas, because very soon there won't be.
Sure, everyone will lash out now, saying how great it is and how they want you to finish it, how you should finish it and how you will regret it if you don't. BUT it is not THEIR money they are 'spending' and they don't have to live with any of the decisions they are helping you make.
Obviously you will wonder 'what if i finished it' and this wants you to keep going, because you are 'so close now'. This is what makes entertaining the notion of giving up now such a hard thing to do, BUT from the very moment you do finish it, it will all start depreciating at a rapid pace. I bet time and time again you have considered 'giving up', but have decided to carry on, spurred on by people's encouragement. But they are not the one's who have to live with the consequences, and there must have been reasons and times when 'giving up' seemed like the best option. Any regrets in not having done it THEN?
It could well have been the 'greatest nova ever built' , in raw power/performance terms if nothing else (since styling is subjective to each individuals preferences) but i wouldn't bother.
Because, to be honest, Novas are DEAD. Simple as.
But if you do decide to finish it, you may as well keep it forever, because it'd be pointless selling it.

can you do a shorter verson of that?
i looked at martys reply for 10 secs and got a head ache
?Marty?

Here's the shorter version then...
i hope you do finish it, as it will be amazing car.
Really means:
i hope you do finish it, as we all want to look at it at shows. But fuck me, am i glad it is not ME spending all that money on it.
PS my replies are best ingested through the process of reading. Simply staring at the page for 10 minutes will not induce the words to form in your mind through osmosis. lol
And readin one of my replies is a hell of a lot better than reading s string of the same monotomous responses we will/have got from everyone else on here. And on most other threads. I actually THINK about what i am saying, and WHY i am saying it.
Do i fuck! I am here purely to disagree, argue, and piss people off at any given opportunity. And if there is none? I create them myself. lol Holla.

^^^You are trully a women in a small boys body if you feel it is nessassary to create an argument out of nothing lol

Rick
How much do you want for it Rick? You KNOW you'd regret selling it without having got it running properly first!
The way I see it is;
* It needs some paint on the inner arches.
* It needs mapping then MOTing.
So all the hard graft is done (custom fabrication etc etc) BUT if its not economical to finish then scrap it. I've spent all the money I was prepared to on K95, its now time to finish!
Cheers.
scarily i agree with what marty said!
i wish i had never started my nova although i look at it an think it looks really smart i now look at what i could be driving for the money i've spent an feel sick as i know there are still little things that could be improved on the nova but put quite simply i don't want to throw any money away.
i've spent easily over 3 times as much as i'll ever get back on it an tbh i don't think it was worth it.
it's one of the situations
do i keep going an finish it then look at what i've 'made'
or do i stop now an sell up then think look at what might have been
the decision as they say is yours!

as im sure others are saying and thinking; some of marty's comments i agree with, some i dont.. some people do like novas more than you'de think.. i do agree that i think rick has lost the plot a little; there are ways of getting similarly (or not much less) good power, clean, shiney looks for a lot less money.. i know because i have 2 friends to use as examples: ben (theonewitcrazynova, or what ever his stupid novaload screeename is..) has acheived the "big money/mag feature" look and performance for only ?5,000 odd. On other hand another friend (brett) with a cavy turbo whos doing exactly the same thing : ?12,000 on engine, ?4,000 on bodywork - so far.. its taken 2 years so far; and he's flipped with the whole thing himself. I just think brett's lost the whole point of this modding lark - its not supposed to ruin ur life.. need to learn where to stop maybe... my point now is that both you rick and my mate brett have to got the point of no return. only reason i would give up now is if health, houses or job got in the way. at least i think so.
i think u should remember why you are building it Rick?
what was your reasoning to build it in the first place? Is that reason no longer 'strong enough' anymore to get on and finish it?
F*ck it. I would finish it. The way I see it is the money is spent, big deal, its paid for (more or less or in a round about way)...the stuff has all ready been bought.
Whats the point in thinking 'oh, I have spent all this on my Nova blah blah...' when you have already spent it. You knew you would not get back what you have spent in the first place.
Like others have said...you are nearly there now...just think how far the car has come since you first started it and I'm sure the end won't seem that far away in comparison.
if its optimax ill have the petrol

I don't regret for one second the 5 figure amounts i've spent on Novas over the years.
Even if Rick doesn't finish it, I bet he's had loads of fun building it. So its not the end of the world really, and not a massive biggy if its never completed. Just one of those things.
Oh.... and Novas will never die.... they'll get older and older but never die.

?10k isn't a crazy amount of money, you could get a crapy new astra for that - or do what you are doing, having fun making a one off that'll be mental to drive.
get it done!

Well marty has lost of good points to say,but i think rick when well passt the point of no return a log time ago,so if he gives up now, then there was no point ever starting,as i have spent quite a bit on mine now,and i know i could have had a great car for the money, but i just spent the odd ?150 here ?350 there sort of think till you add it up then think, humm!! but i stoped and thought to my selth before i had the 2ltr put in,right it will coast me ?*** to buy this and end up at?**** total once done,so i thought do i go for a fair powerd 2ltr nova(that can be fixed cheap and easy from your local motor parts on a sumday etc) or do i spend my money on a scobby or a suppra?
You see the way i looked at it was, what dose it coast you to keep a 2ltr nova??
What would it coast to buy an old skyline? ?2500...but can you afford the repair bill if shit happens, that's what you need to think about..
ok ricks car is not so easy to repair due to one off parts but you see where i was coming from when i thought of doing mine..
PS: rick if you do want to break it i want your engine and ecu manifold, etc etc....
scott
scott you ran a 17sec 1/4 in a standard xe what you going to do with a 500bhp let  Marty has good points on this but it would be a shame not to finish it but i also agree im glad its not my money
