Theres an Nova SR, and an SRi, is the injection the only difference? And how do these differ from a 14 single point and 14 multipoint Astra engines?

Blocks are all the same. SPI and carb heads have small square ports and suck. MPI head has round ports, large valves and is great . The respective Astra engines are the same.

So its the injection heads that have better ports? Whats involved in switching them to carbs?

Get an MPi head and slap it on with a carb, best to use the 32/34.

You may need the 1300 manifold to match the ports better, other people will confirm the manifold.

The MPi Head, thats the multipoint one, I'm sorry its just confusing me here. What cars have the 32/34 carbs? Twin 40's are a bit out of my price range at the moment but they'd be cool alright.

32/34 usually on 1.4 novas, and have been fitted to other things, get to a scrappie and have a look for one.

(can someone add to this by posting a pic of a 32/34)

32/34 DMTL did not come standard on any Vauxhall engine afaik.
you can get them second hand for around ?100 or a New direct replacement Kit is about ?250.

Weber 32/34 doesn't come on any Nova as standard. and it's not a simple case of 'slapping' one on to an MPI head either. The ports are a completely different shape.
If you want to use a 32/34 carb (very good fuel economy, good power, cheap) then use a 1.3 manifold and head.

also the carbed nova heads excluding the 1400 nova have NOT got square ports like the SPi, the 1200 and 1300 head are'nt bad flowing pretty good acutally. never heard off matching a carb and manifold to a mpi head (not saying its impossible but very difficult) why not have a 1300 or 1200 head modded to fit the MPi valves, would'nt be as complicated and produce very simlar power.

Thanks MechaT! Slap the head on, that will!

As said just go with the 32/34, fairly cheap and they aren't bad with those on. If you can afford 40s (around ?200) then do so.

right, er, right, er, no, er, yeah, er, whaaa? Right a 1400 SPi Block, a 1300 head and Manifold and the carb off a what? I'm sorry I'm a bit confused. Will these all screw together alright or will the compression need to be altered?

Anyone local you'd Recomend Johnny27? You're not too far away from me.

 Any 1400 vauxhall bottom end/block
 Any 1.2 or 1.3 carb Vauxhall head
 A 1.3 Manifold
 A carb to fit, either the std Pierburg 2e3 or a Webber 32/34DTML
 A coil and dizzy with the motor, unless it looks the same as your current one, then just leave your coil in and hook up to new dizzy.

Or just the 1400 complete motor to save pissing around, especially if you say bits are in short supply over there.

I'm lucky over here, Will_F lives close and he is always breaking GSi's and GTE's. Plenty of spares.

Lovely Robb!! O'll get that sorted in a few weeks. Does Will_F sent stuff over here? I'd love a GSi Dash!!

I'm sure he will have one available. You could possibly have the only one in Ireland then lol.

PM him on username Will_F and he will give you more info.

FAO Will: there be another plug! And i'll get the outstanding GTE balance sorted this month. Still haven't fixed/looked at it yet lol.

And the 14sr cam will fit the 1200 head? Is there any difference in the sr and sri cams?

don't use an sri one. its designed for injection and won't run as well on carb's.

The 1.4sr will fit fine.
