hay people,

reciently i have been on holiday and while i was away my car went into the garage to be worked on. its a mk1 1.2 merit and i got an abyss front bumper fitted, le-cat skirts, gte read bumper, spoiler and a mesh grill fitted. i also got some 'angel eye's' fitted. now the angel eyes are very pale blue, and as they replace the side lights im not sure if they are road legal and if my car will fail its MOT because of them. they are 'e' marked.

does anyone know if they are legal and if they will fail the MOT?

any help appreciate.

Cheers Matt

if they are E marked then they should pass

wel i thought that, but i was told that you cant have lights on the front of your car that aint white, so if thats true then the sidelights being blue is gona be illegal :(

if somethings 'E' marked, doesnt that just mean its not gonna blow up in your face?? i.e. its safe to use, but its up to you if you use it?

take neons for example, im sure they are 'E' marked but its still illegal to use them on the public highway

i could be talking coplete sh1te but thats my two cents

so personnally id just risk it and take em out if the MOTer says to

(put em back in when ya get home tho!!)

yeah that was what i was thinking, its just that i tend to get pulled a lot by the plod for 'spot checks' and if they wern't legal then i would probs get a fine!! ah well neva mind i'll keep them :D
cheers all
Matt

p.s btw is there anywhere i.e website that i can go on tio check the legallity of them???

Your best bet is probably just to ask the local MOT garage if they are legal.

I can garantee that if a copper sees you with your angel eyes on that you will get a fine!

But sayin that just dont drive round with em on all the time, And as for MOT depending on the place they will probably not even check em or be bothered about it, if they are just put yer standard ones on.

If you did get pulled over for the angel eyes which is unlikely, the worst you would get if they are illegal would be a seven day prohibition order, which giaves you seven days to change them, with no fine.

I have been pulled over by traffic police at a cruise and VOSA the people who set the rules for MOT's, done me for my window tints on the front side windows because they were to dark and all I got was a seven day pro order.

You shouldn't have any problem mate.

wel i was asking as the person who fitted them was the person that does my MOT and he aint sure :? im not going to just drive round with them on, lol, that would be asking for trouble and no i dont have any pics yet...but i am hoping to get a digi camera soon and then im gona do my feature. got them off e-bay 60-fcukin-quid!!! but worth it :D

They are E marked as they are original Nova parts so have passed the safety test and then been modified to have the Angel eyes put into them. So that dosent mean a thing.

My Corsa's side lights have been tinted green (by the previous owner) and these passed the MOT.

I was just about to say the very same thing.

Good point to remember is that if they cross over the centre of the bulb, you will likely fail your mot. Reason for this is they diffuse the light coming off the bulb, and they wont be bright enough for the MOT machiney things. Or, thats what I'm led to believe anyway.

Well they dont actually cross over the bulb, they just go around it. the reason that i thought that it might fail is due to the fact that i dont actually have side lights(you cant see the eyes unless its pretty damn dark) and the fact that they are blue, but i guess i'll just have to wait and see. the guy who does my MOT is a mate of mine so if, come MOT time he says that they aint legal he will change them for me before he fills out the certificate (i.e. do the work and then pass it, rather than charging me 2 tests, 1 before and 1 after the work) so i'll just wait.
