About 10 years ago I was in the back of a mates Mums Metro ( ), there were five of us in the car including me who was sitting on the centre of the rear seat - probably the worst place to sit - it was about 9pm at night, the roads were very wet and it was still lightly raining, he decided that he'd be a knob and race a car from some traffic lights - we got infront of them (tbh I don't think they were even trying) but as soon as we came to the first bend in the road the combination of standard crap tyres, wet weather and my mate driving like a t.wat (just like your mate) meant that we spun 90deg one way, he applied opposite lock which meant we spun the other way, we ended up traveling backwards on the road facing the car we'd just 'raced' we were sliding across the road when we clipped a kerb side on, the car flipped on it's roof slid across the path still on it's roof before coming to rest after going through the shop front window of a cafe (and flattening a bus stop pole on it's way).

The person with the worst injurys was me - A deep cut in the palm of my hand from some broken glass and a sore shoulder - the car we'd been 'racing' stop to help us get out of the car (via the shop we'd just ram-raided backwards and on the roof  ) - it wasn't long before the ambulance, police, fire and local radio were on the scene.

The police contacted my parents who thought that they were gonna tell them I was either dead or severly injured.

Moral of this story - drive safe and keep yourself alive, I think the whole experience was worse for my parents and I feel guilty to this day for what I must of put them through.

I am so suprised the damage isn't worse, its a lucky escape for the car!

Were you wearing seat belts?

does the engine still run ok as you may have starved it of oil while it was on its side, killes engines for a past time,

also when you rolled it back did it land heavily on the wheels that were in the air, may be worth checking the shocks and the mounting points for damage, its a big whack on them when it lands,

lucky as hell there is not any real damage tho and that it did not go onto the roof as it would have been writen off then

lucky escapr m8. Novas are sturdier than they look. Cannay believe the lack of damage although I'd check the wheels/suspension/alignment and also looks like the front bumpers moved across a little. Could be the pic though

You can choose to laugh at yourself, or you can use my mockery as an opportunity to better yourself.

Yes. I have grown to be increasingly less tolerant of others. Do i care about my apparant lack of empathy? No.

And you wouldn't mind crashing in another car?

Glad you were both ok. Seriously I think you need to learn who to get in a car with. This is the second accident you have been in, in the last couple of months. You have been fine both times. Think about it, the third might be worst.

Yep that one in my avatar pic is now gone, that was fantastic condition too

Novas are sturdier than they look.

This was somewhere below 40mph, meaning it was a 40mph limit minus however much we actually managed to brake before we hit it. Not that strong eh? I'm having a cage and random gussets, strengthem plates etc in my next one! http://www.tms-stores.com/pictures/Picture%20007.jpg
