should have welded right the way along the bits they the holes in... then captived the nuts to the bottom ball joints

ah feck, captive nuts on the balljoints! now thats what i should have done lol

ah well the spacer tubes will be fine, its a tight fit anyway as the balljoint has to be ground down to fit in and then clamped up good and tight ;)

nice plates btw.

what are captive nuts?

Show me a pic of some you have done Ste.

weld the nuts onto the ball joints... then you don't need to leave it open to get a socket in

o i see but where would the ARB bolt to becuse it is spaced down so that it misses the f28

ahh... so you are swapping the tie bar and bottom ball joints over and using spacers... well on one i did i welded the spacers into the arm... then put a holed plate over the top and welded that in... so the arm was all one solid bit

yes i was thinking fo doing that, do you think it would be alot stonger then the ones i have done above?

how thick are the plates that you have used mate. I expected to get these as part of my harry hockly plating kit but didnt so am considering making my own + has anyone got any more pictures of strenthened arms? Also i am running TAS lowered tie bar mounts, so i am guessing that the bottom ball joint and tiebar arrangement bolts to the tca the same as before with just the front mounting point of the lowered brackets being cheanged (sorry if that didnt make much sense lol). Im just runing a small block 1600 16v by the way and am looking ro the best handling setup

Thse are the brackets i have bought second hand:

well when they bend they usually bend where they are clamped by the tie bar and ball joint... and you havn't added any strength there

for the non f28 engine you just spacer down the fronts with the above brackets.... again it would be better to weld in a block of steel rather than use the supplyed aly block... also did you get the stainless tube that you cut down to change the castor... approx 11mm to keep it standard

they have adjustable castor... you use a tube spacer cut down to adjust it

no i didnt ste, have you got any pictures of what you mean. Do you mean a spacer thats goes onto where the tie bar mounts to push it further back

yup needs to be 11mm back to be in the standard position

14/15mm is a nice ammount to push it back by

would this strengthening make a noticable difference?

becuase i have got a F28 i have had to swap the ball joint and the ARB round.

The setup goes

Ball Joint
|
Track Control Arm
|
Spacer
|
ARB

What is the ideal length of the spacers between the Track Control arm and ARB?
