Hi, how can I tell the difference between a std 1.3 Engine and a 1.3 SR Engine?

Is there something in Engine number thats different?

Cheers

sr's have diff bodywork and bumpers obviously but engines are the same as has been said.

Cheers.

The reason I asked was because I got told there was a difference in bhp between a std 1.3 and a 1.3SR and I wanted to know how I could tell from looking at the engine.

1.3sr engines have the twin choke carb, some 1.3 engines from the nova 1.3l and astra have the single choke carb.

The SR's feel a bit quicker to drive obviously because of the twin choke but also the low diff in the box or a CR box, one or the other.

do the non sr 1.3's still have a 4-2-1 exhaust system? or is it the same as the 1.2?

The engine apart from the carb is the same, the only difference is the gearbox, SR means sports ratio, and the SR boxes have higher ratios making them slightly quicker. Other than that the actual engine itself is pretty similar.
