Can any body tell me wether it is either a, illgal or b, will not pass an mot if you de-side repeater your car?

I thought it was alright if the car didnt come with them as standard.
Hold on I might have got that wrong i put my 205gti thru without them and it was meant to have them.
U'd probably be alright.
