SUPERCHIPS!

I read in max power that somebody with a new mini gained 33bhp from getin a superchip fitted. How much wud i gain one a 1.2i? Thats 45bhp standard btw :oops: I've got a green motorsport induction kit and a peco backbox so how much wud my bhp be up before a chip? bout 55 now??

Wel, in max power in a test, the green induction kit added 8-9bhp. As well as the backbox, i guess my bhp gon up to 55ish now??

There is your problem.

Induction "kit" 1-3bhp
Peco backbox 1bhp

age of engine -5bhp

to be honest the cost of a "superchip" and the minimal performance increase youd be best off fitting a 1.2 head with a carb (although with the cAT and emissions to consider you'll be having a bit of a struggle to pass MOT's i think.

just becasue a Mini reacted well to an exhaust / induction kit. Dosent mean to say your car will. i meana tubluar exhaust for my V6 will add 30bhp, but you'd never see that kind of gain on a small 4cylinder nova engine etc. its all about relative thinking.

a tubular manifold will add approx 3-10bhp DEPENDING on the state of tune of the engine and what type it is etc. and consider the age of the engine too. as alex said its probably lost 5 bhp due to its age.

im sure i read it somewhere that the 1200i can't be chiped??

if you want a bit more power, try gettin hold of an SRI manifold, and sticking a full de-cat system on it should gain a few brake, but its not worth it on a 1200 its never gonna be fast
