im in the process on fitting an xe in my 1.3 sr,im just wondering whereabouts round the engine bay will need to be stitch welded?

well mate you basiclly have to weld inch to inch every seam!! that means where a panel joins another weld that. all around the front of the shell. and all the way to the back if you realy want to.

mine was seam welded around all the seams an plated on the inner arches

wot is the mimimum amp mig welder that u can use to do this job?

its only thin steel so any mig will do it, mine was crap but did it with ease

1.3's have thinner metal around the bay as apposed to GSI/GTE where its thicker.

Not sure where the Sri stands though.

think its just the GTE/GSi that has the thicker metal.

as they are the ones with the reinforced strut tops.

How much can you get at with an engine in place? want to strengthen mine up a bit, few patches need a bit of welding anyway!

not enough car needs to be stripped if your going to do it im afraid, if not you wll just transfer stress to another part of the bay

is it a must have ,if you are putting a 2.0 16v in a gte nova or will the bay take it

i suppose its not so bad for a GTE/GSI as it thicker metal. But i'd imagine u'd still gain from it.
