Right, Its been a while but i've finally started work on "The Main Event"
This car has been off the road for 2 long years now (Pics of when I brought it are in the Turbo's section). And since then i've been spending too much time messing about with my Red GTE Turbo, but now that thats bit the dust its time to get this Silver GSi Ready for next year.

Im not going to reveal too much yet. But what I will show you is how it looks now.... and a few of the pieces that I have aquired to go on it.

First off This Bonnet

And pair of Doors like this (complete with Audi Handles)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/novaneil/AudiDoor.jpg

The shell is completely stripped down so that all remains is some roof lining and a Heater matrix.

So far I have welded in a Harry Hockley Strengthening kit (sorry a mate did) and started seam welding some of the engine bay. See below

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/novaneil/Enginebay3.jpg

I have cut the wheel well out and welded in a 3mm thick plate (see below)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/novaneil/Rear3.jpg

Yes I know 3mm seems a bit excessive, but the rear is going to be completely stripped out, and I wanted a bit of weight in the back to help balance the car better for trackdays..

And the Powerplant for next year.......
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/novaneil/XEPower.jpg
Virtually standard..... But its going to be Nos'd up to keep me entertained. Until I have rebuild my New Turbo Lump
 But that won't be going in till very late in the year if not next to be honest cause I want it "The Ultimate Spec" and it will no longer be an 8v Turbo.... but a 1.6 16v Turbo, just to give me a few more revs.

So there you have it.... The first pics. I'll keep you updated with the progress.... as and when it happens.

Cheers

Neil

Did your mate break Dave P's old car then? Seems like the doors and the bonnet are off that?

Looks good but leave the 2ltr in it and run a 150 shot through it or something daft like chip did. Rick

Sneaky peak photographs are great!

The flushed rear looks good, partly wich I never cut holes in mine lol

A completely stripped rear does need a bit of weight in it or the back certainly starts to wander....

Good luck!

Cheers for the comments guys.

Rick, Yes the bonnet and wings are from Dave P's old one. If you look in the GSi Section you'll see the shell in there, being rebuilt by a new owner (Ben G).

Ha ha, although a Nos'd up XE will be fun, its still too much weight for me. Plus I Love the sound of a decent Turbo Lump! Throttle bodies come close, but the Dump valve wins im afraid.
