Hi Guys,

Just got back from an Awesome day at Curborough Sprint Track. Loads of fun was had by everyone... even me who didn't take a car. (but I did blag a spin in Mr Rowntree's awesome machine :D ). The track was damp most of the day but dried out at the end, and I can honestly say that not one of the cars I watched didn't spin off!!!! Every single one lost it at some point! And a few on more than one occasion.... hey padge/beastie  (who managed to spin twice in one lap..... and the laps are around 30secs long)

I have to say the Nova boys are just getting faster and faster.... The Quickest car I timed during the day was a VX220 VXR.... But 2 very well known Nova's got within 1 sec of its time!!! Which I think is amazing!

Them being Mr Mark Beeson in his bonkers 2.0 16v Turbo (see below)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/novaneil/Beastie.jpg

And Martin (sorry don't know his surname) in a utterly mint GSI running Carb'd XE... with virtually every single handling aid ever made for a nova!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/novaneil/Martin2.jpg

Also this Rally Nova sport was blistering quick round the corners... but just didn't have the straight line speed of the above two. Fair play to the nutty driver who I don't think used his handbrake once cause it was constantly on. He ended up blowing the gearbox later on in the day

We will roll over .... We will roll over  (only kidding scott, your car flew round!)

hi 2 all,i was at the track day and have 2 say novas rule.

i know i was in my corsa because my nova is in bits, got 2 say wat a top day i was in the corsa 2.1 16v gsi i gave it a hard beatin and worn the tyres and brakes out and without blowin her up like i did at traxs04.

the track was tight meanin loads of wheel spinin,i did 15 laps without cumin off god knows how i didnt cause i pushed her to the egde.

had the shock wound up tight and 4got to slack them off so the ride home was hard cd player jumpin like mad.

got 2 say the full bush set up on my car made it so much better though the bents.

met a load of top lads and some faces going back some years well i have been in the club 7 years.

just hope the novas dont all go away novas rule.

What a day!

What a turnout aswell. The majority of cars there were the ones you would usually see in the show and shine and not a single person there was scared to push there cars within an inch of there life.

Ive done many track days over the years in the nova but have to say this was byfar the best, it even beat the Nurburgring in my opinion. Everyone was buzzing all day really finding the limits of there cars and there own limits.

I personally found out loads about my car and my own ability, and finally learnt to use the hand brake! Putting the car sideways into the hairpin and drifting the back all the way round, the damn thing was handling like a mk1 escort!

Never have i pushed it so hard and never have i enjoyed myself so much. And fair play to every single person that went, no one can ever say you dont USE yours cars

P.S You stopped shaking yet neil  was really good to take you out and get your opinion. Tell you what mate, my days at the pod are over as i came away yesturday loving the car not frustrated with it.

What a day!! :D I think we are doing the full circuit next year? Good to see everyone and put names to faces, Good to see you Karl & everyone else I spoke to. Everyone managed to miss the bank (positioned in probably the most dangerous place you could have put it!) and I didn`t spin :D :D (learnt my lesson from traxs at copse corner  - Andy Bishop has the evidence.)

My car is the white nova/Blue wheels and cage - J468 UFA.

Karl, Still buzzing mate, can't wait to have a go next year in my new one. After going in yours I have now realised you can make an XE Nova handle.... Very well!!!! (Small block is still the way forward though.... )
Not sure about the Nurburgring comment though..... Yes it was a top laugh.... But the Ring is the Ring    It don't get much better.

Oh yeah..... Both Beastie and Martin have Striaght cut boxs and all I can say is WOW!!! What a noise!!! But I don't think anyone could beat the noise of Beasties on ful boost Echoing off the trees behind the track... and gearbox whining... What a noise.. For those of you who haven't heard it, its like a Jet fighter taking off. Absolutely out of this world!!!!! :D

As neil said, the noise from beasties car was amazing. He was switching the car to high boost after the first 2 laps so it only got loader again!. Really is an awesome car he has built there, i look forward to hearing ricks turbo. Got to get a straight cut box and diff now as i can only imagine the difference it would have made around curborough.

Clint was good to see you mate, and was good to see how far you have come with your cars since i last met you years ago. 2 corsas and a nova! your corsa was mint mate.

Neil, as you say you cant beat the ring and it was the best experience of my life going over there, but for me personally ive never had so much fun in my car trying stuff ive never tried. It wasnt the track that was better it never would be, it was just a changing point for me. Driving the car like i stole it and having a permanent smile on my face. The ring can only be better now that i understand my own limits

Keith, will keep you posted mate. Think we are aiming for the start of may, all depends if there is a show or not. If not i plan to go straight to the ring then onto spa. Like i say will keep you posted when i know more next year.

and i also found that it whent better then i tought in the wet,in fact i enjoyed it more in the wet then the dry as it gave you more fun to try and control it.
I think it's time for a dif very soon :D

Good to see you on novaload martin, your car was awesome on saturday and in my eyes probably the most finished nova out there. Didnt realise you had straight cut gears now! I enjoyed watching your mate drive the second time round, he really new how to drive your face was a treat!

Did wonder where you were on saturday oli, was a great day as you my have guessed mate. Did you go to the ring in the BM?

Put the straight cut gears in mid year when i finally got it on the road. Massive difference definetly worth it if your into track days. Need ear defenders on motorway as noice if deffening so a trip to the Ring if deffinetly a no goer, would do your ed in!!
Mate Stu had second go in it and enjoyed it, by the state of my tyres quite a bit.
