F16 gearbox

right i picked up a f16 gearbox the other day and the bloke said that it was a close ratio 1 and i was wondering how i can find out??

should i get the box re-built or strengtened because its going on my 2l 16v which is running 178bhp!

is the gearbox a straight swap for the f20?

hi m8 doesnt it say some were on the box like f16cr?? im sure it should..

look at the gear box input shaft and visualise you can see through the gear box and follow the line of the shaft and where it would come out is a plate. gearbox end plate i think its called, anyway there should be a stamp on it (very lightly) if its says cr then its a close ratio.

and it should not need strengthened as you say for your 20xe.

i couldnt find the stamp u was on about bruce!! :roll:

i've started to clean the gearbox with jizer is this ok or should i get it sand blasted??
