View Full Version : Arsehole of a Badger !

Driving down some backroads tonite, noticed a farm sign saying "mud on roads" so i drove ahead with caution.

Approaching a right hand bend with a hegde on each side and a banking to the left and then...

A fucking arsehole of a bastard BADGER ran outta the hedge,

so i kinda swerved round it (cos it would've wrote off my car as it's real low at the front) then found myself sliding (due to cock sucking farmer shit on the road) heading for the hedge with the banking, applyed a very sharpe right turn and a small application of the handbrake, back end glanced off a stump and then i managed to traverse across to the other side of the road and into the hedge. If i wasn't paying as much attention i'd have gone straight down the banking !

Fortunatly no real damage to the front, but a nice dent in the rear quarter, not too bad, i managed to pull it round enuff to "glance" off the stump to it's more of a scrape.

And before you say, i was only doing 42mph

And to take the piss when i reversed out it pulled a large section of banking out that got caught under my splitter so i had to spend about 15 mins clearing shitt off the road !

beware of fecking badgers !

lol...glad you and the car are ok mate.

sure all of us have been in similiar situations...with cats n dogs (and sheep! lol) and they are dangerous little b*stards as they can just come out of no where...

my mate recently had a similiar situation with a cat but unfortunately he ran it over...

they are unpredictable.

anyways get the car repaired already

lol you dont want to run over one! I was driving one night and going quite quickly, went round a corner and there was one already dead in the middle of the road. Couldnt see it till too late and i was going too fast to swerve so i just braced myself and BUMP. Car nearly took off, immediate thought was that id jus buckled one of my alloys  .

Luckily i didnt and i went back and pushed it off the road.

i know, it was a big bastard, well reckon it would have wrote me off if i hit it, just liucky i managed to avoid going thru the hedge and down the banking as i cud've killed myself

took the bumper off today n put it back on cos it was all wonky, and it's reet from the front end, just the bash in the rear side is part of the rear arch :-(

never swerve for animals unless really big... cows/deer/sheep etc...

badgers you can just plow down... just keep it floored... don't brake or you dive the front end down..

i hit a badger in my 2.0... i cracked the bumper... deffo cheaper than a rear 1/4

Glad you and your cars ok mate, though i do feel kind of sorry for the little fellas. Me and my mates have had many run ins with badgers round by me as we live close to cannock chase.

I took the head of a badger the other night in the evo, he was in the middle of the road and if i swerved i would be hear now. Just glad i was in the new car as its high and i drove straight over him. I felt his head hit the rear diff, i braked went back and got him out of the road. Still feel bad now

Be safe down the lanes guys

No offence but 42 mph on a back road seems pretty fast. Blind bends, expect something around every bend and all that like. Lucky your ok though :o

Coming back from Portrush (like a crap version of blackpool, only in NI). Around about 2 years ago now, I came round a long swooping corner, only to find a HUGE cow, standing right in the middle of the road!

Good job it was dry, as my brakes just stopped me in time, the cow didnt even flinch lol. Could have been bye bye blue nova!

fit anti lag

I've got mine booked in for that a week on wednesday :D although I can't see how it would help you if a deer walked out infront of you.

does that include small children? lol.

If i can stop or swerve to avoid wildlife i do so.

the other morning when i was going to work (5.30am -dark) i was following this beemer up a straight hill on about 200metres behind him.

My lights were on dipped and i suddenly for a split second saw a big hare crawling from the side of the road into the path of me.

It looked like the car infront had hit it and it was paralysed, it was dragging its back legs along. Scared the shit out of me.

It looked like the evil rabbit from Watership Down lol.

disclock on the passenger seat went flying into the passenger footwell and burst a near full bottle of interior trim cleaner, lol, stuff was fcuking everywhere! All under the dash, doorcards etc etc

no way I was gunna run this one over though, swear the thing had tattoos, lol

thankyou 2.0L Cav brakes and Mintex pads thats all I can say

anything bigger than a badger and you stop/avoid. the rest (smaller stuff) is fair game!

ive nailed many a rabbit as it would ahve ben 100% dangerous to take evasive action. and anyway they are all vermin!!!!!

pheasants make a right mess lol

Next time i see a leapard i'l remember to keep my toe down !

I had a woodpigeon fly straight through my grill and crack the rad as i was going about 75mph lol. that wasn' funny, it was stuck in the front of my car for about 3 miles, finally some heavy emergency breaking tipped it out.

and no i didn;t even bother to see if it was dead or not.

So you pretty much ignored the Farmer's warning, you were driving a low car round a corner at night on mud & didn't hit a badger but went off the road.....& rally GB is on this week...

Seriously my brothers best mate hit a badger on a decent dry road on night in a mk1 sr. it put him in the ditch & he stayed in the car till daybreak for fear that the badger was going to get him. they are tenacious little sods.
